Default So, what did you buy today!?
Just wondering who all you guys got today on Black Friday. What kind of deals did you pick up, and where did you shop?
Anything interesting happen where you were at?

Myself, I never go out. Sometimes the wife does, but I stay home and look up deals online. Not sure if I wanna pinch into my wallet today, or save that for Cyber Monday.

Thanks! The discount wasn't huge but I saved about $300.

I am going to move all my AV gear in the tower rack I have into the first one so it all sits down below the screen and do the same for the bedroom putting the TV on top of the second one. I just need to make sure to figure out proper cooling for the consoles.

I went to Target and did the stand outside in line till they open thing for the first time ever. They opened at 4am and I got there around 1am. And it was 18 degrees F. I was fairly comfortable, I have enough cold weather gear, but the last hour my toes were getting pretty cold, lol.

I must have a friendly persona about me, because I can be in a line like that, in a bar, or whatever and get into conversations with people pretty easy. So had some friendly convos with some of the people.

I had one goal, get the Westinghouse 40" 1080p LCD TV for $298.

Here's where I was in line

and here is behind me

A couple of the store security guys went around and passed out maps of the store that showed where many of the Black Friday specials were going to be located. So when the door opened and I got in I made a beeline for where the TVs were going to be. I could see they were going fast, they had them sitting in carts already thankfully. But I managed to get up there and snag one!

But I really don't ever want to do that again.

Wow, that is a great deal! Are you going to wait until the holidays to open it or are you going to tear it open, set it up, and relax in front of it today?

Did they let everyone in? That would be nuts.
Im not sure who all does it, but at least our best buy, they allow X amount of people in at a time and as they come out they let some in. Pretty nice system I'd say. Don't have to rush and can actually shop around! IMO it seems like you have to know already what you want so as you said, can bee line direct there and get out of there asap before people steal out of your cart.

That is a pretty sweet deal on that TV though. I'd buy that! I wanna replace my PC LCD with a TV LCD or Plasma. After putting my PC LCD next to my plasma, I realized how sh/ty it is.

Yeah, they pretty much let everyone flow in at once, lol. So basically I stood outside for 3 hours, took me 30 seconds to get inside and grab my cart with the TV in it, then another hour to get to a checkout, pay and get out.

Somebody in line suggested to one of the security people that next year they try that let x number in at a time. I would have been in there longer if there had not been these two gals behind me that I had struck up a convo with though. One of them went up and scouted out the checkout lines and phoned her friend to grab me and snake our way up front. she had found a spot in the middle of the crowd right at a checkout where there was no line.

We slid right in and I got out in 5 minutes! I must have thanked her 10 times for helping me out, lol

I bought the piece of mind that seven hours of sweet, sweet OT brings to my bank account.

Crowds + idiots + necessary trip to a body shop = no way.

Maybe I'll call universal autosports and see if they'd give a black friday discount on their ccx.

Oh believe me, I didn't have any ill feelings towards any of the employees. I sure as hell would not have wanted to trade places. Just all the other humans got annoying

There was no way I was going to stand in line at the stores. I did however, get a new UPS for myself.

I was actually very close to pulling the trigger on the 1300VA version a few weeks back for $160...1500VA for $99 sounds great to me, even if it is on backorder. My current 750VA model can barely keep my rig afloat (a few minutes on the desktop, about 30 seconds in games ), so I figure I'll definitely need a more powerful unit when I go to sandy bridge come January or February.
