Default Is there a job...
that people are actually willing and wanting to do their ****ing job and do it well? Do I have to wait for a career-like-job for that to happen?

I'm assuming your question isn't rhetorical:

I think so. The general view that I have on the company I work for (~500 people) is that about half the people there really do care about the work and take pride in it and do it rather well. Which, apparently is pretty good as companies go.

No idea how what are the sure ways to find them; this depends a lot on the person's mindset anyway. Maybe start with some "best places to work for" list to get some idea?

Yes, Helicopter flying. People will work for free, turn up for work even on their days off, making it a very tight job market and drops the rate of pay [cursing]

Great jobs don't pay that well. Great paying jobs are usually not that great.

You could work at a group home, I'd say 60-70% of the people that are there actually care about their jobs and the clients.

A lot of it depends on the employers. We are highly incentivised at work and promote a close-knit culture. As a result, everyone feels involved in all of our work, regardless of seniority or ownership and morale is high. The same is true in most digital and creative agencies I have worked at.

Corporates tend to have a harder time maintaining morale and the public-sector is filled with people who just couldn't give a crap.

Great jobs don't pay that well. Great paying jobs are usually not that great.
That's probably one of the the most inaccurate truism's around.

In my opinion usually about 20% of the employees care about their work and have a high qualitiy management. About 70% do their work, but dont care at all and wouldnt raise a finger if they hadnt to. And the rest 10% just are there, but dont do anything.

in my eyes work is work.. jobs seem much more interesting than they actually are.. unfortunately. Always looking forward to the weekends on Monday. I'm working at a bank and the work is very repetitive and lots of administrative work. Why bankers get paid so much is weird, but I'm not complaining

I've a mate with a small toilet cleaning business - specialising in the re-conditioning of stained stainless steel urinals, he makes a very comfortable living

My mate just sold his online business that sells commercial bathroom products for 10 million USD. This seems about as relevant as your story.

Yeh me too. I think he actually got the cash for his new $4,500,000 house by selling his bum on street corners.

EDIT: I ignored the obvious pun before as it was too obvious. But was it intentionally that obvious?

Not any more - as they say, 'where here's ****, there's gold', and he's cashed in.

I like the Field I'm in. I like I.T. as a general field. Its the troubleshooting and planning aspects for projects that I most enjoy. It does come with support level issues with users which I really don't like, mostly because the current users I support don't really appreciate IT's work or act very accommodating. If I tell them their computer is at risk because the HD is old and it should probably be replaced they don't want to give me the 1hr to clone the drive to a new HD. Instead they'd rather work it to death till I have to rebuild the machine from scratch which can take about 3hrs and then somehow save their files from the corrupted old drive. And then they'll complain about how long it takes to rebuild the PC. They also store stuff in the stupidest places, I have users who store access databases inside random windows folders.

The main reason I don't enjoy my current job is because of my manager. He's a micro-manager and that's a problem for me because I'm a self managed person. I'm more the type of person that you point in the direction of a problem and let me find the solution on my own. My manager however wants me to go by a 50 point step by step resolution that takes longer to do the paperwork than actually implementing the solution.

That said, despite my current unhappiness with my job, I'm employed and I still do take pride in my work. So I don't see my job a nightmare, just a little monotonous currently.

Never underestimate the stupidity of users. If you don't want them to store things in random folders, lock them down. I know a lot of people on here think that everyone should understand their computers or they are a moron but for the vast majority of people it's just not a big concern to them as long as they can get their jobs done.

Regarding your paperwork. There is a couple of project management truisms to rememeber:

When the weight of the project paperwork equals the weight of the project itself, the project can be
considered complete

And more importantly:

Fail to plan, plan to fail.

Paperwork is a pain, but it's there for a reason.
