Pubic Hair Exists for a Reason
Doctor: Pubic Hair Exists for a Reason -- Our Obsession With Hairless Genitals Must End!
A doctor explains why Americans' penchant for a hairless pubic area is dangerous to our health. August 9, 2012 | I must have missed the declaration of war on pubic hair. It must have happened sometime in the last decade because the amount of time, energy, money and emotion both genders spend on abolishing every hair from their genitals is astronomical. The genital hair removal industry, including medical professionals who advertise their specialty services to those seeking the “clean and bare” look, is exponentially growing. But why pick on the lowly pubic hair? A few sociological theories suggest it has to do with cultural trends spawned by bikinis and thongs, certain hairless actors and actresses, a desire to return to childhood, a misguided attempt at hygiene or being more attractive to a partner. Surely human beings are not so naïve as to be susceptible to fashion trends and biases. It is a sadly misconceived war. Long ago surgeons figured out that shaving a body part prior to surgery actually increased rather than decreased surgical site infections. No matter what expensive and complex weapons are used—razor blades, electric shavers, tweezers, waxing, depilatories, electrolysis—hair, like crab grass, always grows back and eventually wins. In the mean time, the skin suffers the effects of the scorched battlefield. Pubic hair removal naturally irritates and inflames the hair follicles left behind, leaving microscopic open wounds. Rather than suffering a comparison to a bristle brush, frequent hair removal is necessary to stay smooth, causing regular irritation of the shaved or waxed area. When that irritation is combined with the warm moist environment of the genitals, it becomes a happy culture media for some of the nastiest of bacterial pathogens, namely group A streptococcus, staphylococcus aureus and its recently mutated cousin methicillin resistant staph aureus (MRSA). There is an increase in staph boils and abscesses, necessitating incisions to drain the infection, resulting in scarring that can be significant. It is not at all unusual to find pustules and other hair follicle inflammation papules on shaved genitals. Additionally, I’ve seen cellulitis (soft tissue bacterial infection without abscess) of the scrotum, labia and penis from spread of bacteria from shaving or from sexual contact with strep or staph bacteria from a partner’s skin. Some clinicians are finding that freshly shaved pubic areas and genitals are also more vulnerable to herpes infections due to the microscopic wounds being exposed to virus carried by mouth or genitals. It follows that there may be vulnerability to spread of other STIs as well. Pubic hair does have a purpose, providing cushion against friction that can cause skin abrasion and injury, protection from bacteria and other unwanted pathogens, and is the visible result of long awaited adolescent hormones, certainly nothing to be ashamed of or embarrassed about. It is time to declare a truce in the war on pubic hair, and allow it to stay right where it belongs. http://www.alternet.org/doctor-pubic...als-must-end-0 |

I have mixed feelings on women shaving. One part of me think it looks hot, the other makes me think I'm banging a 12 y/o girl....

So Emily Gibson, MD likes her snatch hairy. News flash. Now I can sleep tonight.
Weren't Egyptians practicing this several hundreds of years ago? |
Maybe people should stopping fucking everyone they meet online, I heard that prevents disease.... Just a thought.

There is really three things. There's pubic hair anarchy, pubic hair extermination, and pubic hair maintenance. Complete pubic hair anarchy is just wrong, I think we all agree. Pubic hair extermination some folks may like because it's the latest fashion, but it's an act of war, it's marxism...
The simple answer really is, just maintenance. We maintain our homes, cars, we should look down on occasion and think of others, who may be on for the ride. It's really about just being polite. |

Maybe acid rain water & fluoride has stripped some essential elements from the peoples hair these days?
It doesn't seem to act the same way it used to in the 70's. Not that I remember my own hair that far back, I just remember watching Charlie's Angels when I was 7. |

Dr Emily Gibson Feminist ? Doctor ? Bwaahahaaaaa prolly a jooo tooo ! No shaving ! She'd probably have a stroke about that vajazzlling then. Feminists crack me up !! Gotta love 'em !! They like hairy legs & armpits, too. Nasty. |
A well trimmed bush on a woman is a must and there is not need for a razor just get out the Electric Hair clippers and give it a buzz cut. It does not harm the skin and is much more friendly down there :-)

Pubic hair is in the way and must be eliminated.
Or at least trimmed, that's cool too. Come to think of it, I don't care what other folks do with their pubic hair. It would be weird to see a natural bush in person... haven't seen one in many years. |

Leave a few long ones, in case your partner needs to floss.

Pubic hais has a reason and that is to clog the teeth or mouth of the recipient. TMI i am sure but pulled each and every one of them out for many many years without ingrowns, infections or any of the other nasty shit they claim. Now my tan is mint, no freaky white areas in case I get trimmed ;-] Altho I no longer resemble a boy or anything I'm sure the planted religeous hirearchy might get a rise.

can it be transplanted to the top of the head ?
i would never need a perm ! CURLY FOREVER ! |
Infections? Abscesses?
Not ONCE have I EVER heard or seen this happen to ANYONE who shaves. Not one single instance. This is such BS. |
