Default How much fight have you got in you?
At what point will you decide when TSHTF?

What will you do at that point to survive?

Have you prepared your mind to take another life save another life if circumstances warrant it?

I know it's Friday night respond when you can.

I have never taken a life so I really can't say how I would be able to handle it long term. I am very mentally and emotionally resilient so I think I would do what I had to do. The hard part I don't think would be to kill an enemy, the hard part would be the grey areas, such as if you have a good thing going (food, water, shelter, tools etc) post SHTF and someone find their way to you and wants to join, do you take them in not knowing them, wondering if they are going to kill you and take your stuff? Or do you send them on their way and wonder if they are going to tell the next group of people they see that they should rob you because you have quite the set up? Or do you send them on their way and blow their head off when they turn around and insure the survival of your group? What would I do in that situation? I honestly don't know.

A poem sprang to mind though when I read your post.

THE WRATH OF THE AWAKENED SAXON
by Rudyard Kipling

It was not part of their blood,
It came to them very late,
With long arrears to make good,
When the Saxon began to hate.

They were not easily moved,
They were icy -- willing to wait
Till every count should be proved,
Ere the Saxon began to hate.

Their voices were even and low.
Their eyes were level and straight.
There was neither sign nor show
When the Saxon began to hate.

It was not preached to the crowd.
It was not taught by the state.
No man spoke it aloud
When the Saxon began to hate.

It was not suddently bred.
It will not swiftly abate.
Through the chilled years ahead,
When Time shall count from the date
That the Saxon began to hate.

Thanx for your reply LS i appreciate your comments.

The main problem i have is giving out what i have stored for family to neighbors or strangers who have access to the same information i do and they did nothing.

i hate to turn them away but when there is no supermarket stocked and open you feed one of them you will feed them all till it's all gone.

I dunno maybe it's best to load up the trailer and head to the high ground till nature runs it's course.

I have enough "fight" in me to defend myself and Henny from physical attack initiated upon us... REGARDLESS of the magnitude of loss of human life on the attacking side. I will do so with a COMPLETELY clear conscience. I've taken 2 human lives in my time on this planet (accidentally, vehicular with no charges against me), and I'm CERTAIN those will continue to weigh on my mind and conscience FAR more than any I might take in self-defense. That's all I'm really certain of when it comes to your question.

Certain factions previously chattered for the past 40 years or so about when the 'balloon goes up'. If indeed it does, it will not likely do so on account of the reasons or events foretasted by what appears to be broken clock. If one has an umbrella, if or when the faeces hit the fan is of no concern.

One thing is almost certain in such an event, at least in the United States - a resistance will not foment. There is a profound miasma of ignorance that seems to pervade once one crosses the border.

I've come close, unfortunately, but never had to, fortunately. I know myself well enough, it would bother me, even if the circumstances warrant it. Could I pull the trigger to save my life? I like to think so, but I don't know for sure. Could I pull the trigger to save a loved one? Absolutely, and I would have no regrets. The key to surviving TSHTF in a healthy way? Loved ones. Have folks you care more about than your life. Defending them will never cause you to question your actions.

Thanks. It's not something I choose to talk about much, even though it happened nearly 30 years ago. Time doesn't necessarily heal ALL wounds...
