Turning the tables on Big Brother: Now internet users can watch who is spying on them in blow against Google's new snooping policy
- Free Collusion add-on shows which companies watch as you browse - 'Real time' illustration of marketing companies snooping - Unveiled as Google shifts privacy policy to enable more advertising - Mozilla aims to share data with privacy campaigners By ROB WAUGH Last updated at 5:52 PM on 2nd March 2012 Comments (169) Share Mozilla, the maker of Firefox, has unveiled a new add-on for the popular web browser that gives web users an instant view of which companies are 'watching' them as they browse. The move comes the same week that Google pushed ahead with its controversial new privacy policy, built to provide even more data for Google's $28 billion advertising business - despite concerns that the massive harvesting of private data might be illegal in many countries. The Collusion add-on will allow users to 'pull back the curtain' on web advertising firms and other third parties that track people's online movements, says Mozilla CEO Gary Kovacs. Haaretz - Israeli newspaper - brings in 10+ companies' cookies onto your website. Jerusalem Daily - brings in 15+ companies' cookies onto your website. Facebook - integral to "web analytics" - the official term - some of which i think is not for purposes of advertising. |

I've got this installed but I'm not sure how to view it. I've also got gostery installed and that seems to be doing some thing. It's at least blocking stuff although I'm not sure what exactly.
I've also changed my firefox search engine to startpage HTTPS so my search queries are encrypted on route to search page. It searches google on my behalf and it gives back good results so far. The presentation is a bit different but I'll get acustomed to that before too long I'm sure. Edit: I thought I made comment about this collusion.... having it installed but not knowing how to see what is was doing. There's an icon in the status bar for clicking on. It's interesting to see what the web site is linking to. |

Good find, everyone should try to get this to see who is doing what.
I like NoScript for that reason. Sygate Personal Firewall 5.6, revealing, simple, got an iPad, bonjour service is always working, I block it, lol, what is Apple doing ? Using torrents use PeerBlock, works great, shows you who is reading you. These programs above give me a wealth of info of who is doing what, they eliminate potential problems too, they have helped me fix my computers, especially sygate firewall, blocking problems and virus created connections. Security Task Manager is a good one too, helps identify malware, hijacked, hanging programs, reveals all operating on your system, much more useful than Windows Task Manager, CTR,ALT,DEL at same time. I have been using more portable apps on my desktop recently, experimenting due problems, they work good, FF works same, everything is in one place, no registry mess, etc, been trying different browsers, have FF Legacy portable 2.0.0.20, FF legacy 3.60 portable, Kmelon113 portable, I use that sparingly with full scripts running, no cache, where I am having problems with FF and scripts, manual input screens. Helps multitasking. Don't forget the cookies and java cookies. Java Super Cookies MUST READ ! |
