Has anyone flown standby before? What airlines have you flown and what kind of luck do you have? Ever done it on a holiday weekend?
There are some weekends where I wouldn't mind flying in to see my parents, but my schedule is such that it wouldn't bother me if I went to the airport and didn't get on a flight. Do airlines do any kind of standby flights where you just go to the airport and tell them you're interested in buying a really cheap ticket at the last minute if the flight doesn't fill up, or do airlines not do this? |

I used to fly standby with American Airlines pretty frequently (probably 20 flights or so), haven't done it in years though. There was only one time I couldn't fit on a flight, but was still able to make one early the next morning. It's really nice, and if there's room in first class, they'll throw you in there too!
