Let's not forget that RP's 'mass appeal' comes from his successful use of the Internet--both to raise campaign funds, and to get exposure for his ideas. The MSM and the Washington political insiders could have kept him out of the debates, but they let him in, and either ignored him or painted him as a fringe candidate. They could have stopped him sooner. The fact that he has gotten as far as he is now means (to me at least) that TPTB think they can control him, and that he is useful to them to some degree. RP doesn't attack the elite--he attacks their policies, and he defends the constitution. They need him to reach out to the masses. If he wins and becomes a mortal threat to the status quo, they will assassinate him. If he wins Iows, and it looks like he will get the Republican Nomination, they will force him to take one of their proteges as his running mate, so you can forget about Jesse Ventura, unless he's one of their proteges too. I think TPTB believe they can control him, although they might not want to allow him to win if they can prevent it without making their absolute control of our political system obvious to all Americans..

Ron Paul would never pick Jesse Ventura as running mate. Maybe President Paul could create a new position once in office "Congressional Bouncer"? Jesse would be in charge of putting congress critters in a headlock and using their heads as battering rams into the doors on the way out of congress hall.
