Default No snakes on the island of Psara
I was recently told an unusual story, and I was wondering if anyone else has heard of it?

quoting what I heard:

"On the Greek island of Psara, during a Divine Liturgy, a snake entered the church and consumed the Holy Communion. The priest then felt obliged to, and did, eat the snake. Afterwards, in God's name, he cursed snakes in general. Since then the island has been snake free, and even imported snakes die the instant they hit Psarian soil."

Has anyone else heard this story?

Scroll down a little bit on the article and you will see the legend which you are referring to:

I heard it, too, in a talk on the Eucharist delivered by Constantine Zalalas.

Thanks Alice, and Eric, this is indeed the story I was referring to.

The reason I mentioned it is because my family and I are about to leave our house in 'suburbia' and we are relocating deep in Queensland tropical rainforest, which has a very healthy population of venomous and non venomous snakes.
My wife is petrified of snakes, a true ophidiophobic. I believe that if I can get hold of some Psarian soil, even a few grams, I can then dilute it with our local soil and scatter it around the perimeter of my property. I have full confidence then that no snake would dare cross that line, and hence my wife would feel safe from snakes.

Therefore, I would like to ask if anyone can help me get hold of some soil from that island, I would be very happy to reimburse any related costs. I realise it is a long shot, but I have to try.
Thanks for listening,

+Petros
