Default Thinking of Visiting Norway in a Few Weeks
What is the best place to visit? Is the winter harsh. Sorry, I'm a bit intoxicated, but I am seriously considering this trip.

Norway isn't really known for PC gaming, sorry bro. You might want to look into a different place.

Norway in winter is very, very cold. It is always very, very expensive. It is also very, very beautiful.

The warmest you can expect is 5c (41f) and temperatures around -5c (23f) would still be fairly tropical for Oslo in the middle of winter.

Personally I'd leave it until summer.

Here are the average beer prices in USD:

True about the very expensive and the very beautiful part, as for the cold, it's really not that bad. The past few winters have been pretty warm with the temperature hovering over 0c most of the time (in fact we barely had any snow for extended periods of time the past few winters ).

With that said, you have to keep in mind that days are short and rather dark, so the winter is definitely not the best time for sight seeing in Norway, especially not if you go to the northern part of the country (Oslo is far in the south).

As for which part of Norway is worth visiting, depends on what you're after. There are lots of beautiful places up here [thumbup]

Thanks Iglo!

I have (gasp!) never seen snow, and from what I hear it's beautiful there in the winter time. Maybe somewhere with a nice town, good pubs and food, and just an overall fun atmosphere. I'm sure you'd be the one to talk to about that. [thumbup]

I'd say if you want to visit norway in the winter then (you are crazy) I'd go somewhere in the mountains and get some skiing done (Geilo, Hafjell, Hemsedal, etc)

Also, if you're looking for a place with good pubs and food then I'd really point you to any other country

Well my friend, Oslo it is. I will be heading there with my brother and sister-in-law and girlfriend on December 1st - 7th. It looks like we are going to be staying at the Radisson. If you are available you should join us for a beer or two. [thumbup]

Some people really like snow, winter, cold, dark days, etc. I can't live without snow and end up going up north to Canada or just northern USA to witness it. However, after looking at your prices... Isn't Norway one of the countries that successfully distributes some wealth from rich to poor?
