It's fake.

The original is just the Bear on the left and the kid.

Pedobear is photchopped in.

Is it possible to find reference to this image without the title of pedobear? If it's not a 4chan original, then there's the potential issue of copyright. Publishing an imagine without identifying its copyright is a bit risky. I'm just saying that it seems like a difficult mistake to make. I'm having a hard time imagining a context where they could have found the image and thought it acceptible to use.

uh, you know laser cats would have to work on the same principal. I am no 4chan aficionado, but i am pretty sure it is just a case of someone with a little talent 1st drew it as a joke or somesuch and the community, recognizing it's genius and plethora of uses expanded and improved on it. I don't think anyone has it trademarked... i think it is open source

But that's what I'm talking about, if it is a "creative commons" sort of image, there's no copyright source to find the image by, so the most likely way to find it is by common usage of the image itself. If you were trawling the Internet and found the image of that bear, it's almost certain that it will be presented as pedobear. To find that image without the term "pedobear" would be almost impossible.

It originated in 2chan as "Kuma" as was later turned into pedobear by 4chan. I believe it may have even started as ASCII. Anyway, I'm sure some googling of 2chan kuma will give you a history. I'd do it, but I'd rather my workplace not know that I'm a flithy pervert.

Sure someone posted this one here, recently.

Could be "chopped", but it looks real.
