Hello and nice to meet you all.
Hello,I am a Ex-Catholic who is looking for good essays, quotes, studies and threads to put my mind at ease about "Crossing the Great Schism" on the doctrinal issues. I would also like to know alittle more about the Post-Schism Councils of the west that the Eastern Orthodox took part in such as the Council of Florence, Pope Leo I's claims to supremacy as sucessor of St.Peter,Significance of the Filioque: Heresy or violation? I've heard that the filioque is correctly understood to mean "From the Father (As Cause) Through the son" although in the CCC #246 The catechism quotes the council of Florence expounding the "From Father and Son "As" by one spiration" I found this a little odd even while Roman. Either this is Co-cause heresy or the heresy of Modalism since it seems to confuse the persons of the Holy Trinity (Saying what the Father did,so did the son) I am not knowledgable person, very ill-versed and my history is being born and raised a Arian. Thank you for your patience with me Signed in the deepest of Filial love, Mark Anthony |

Welcome, Mark!
A few threads which touched on the issues you mention are: Catholic curious about filique Bede and filioque The nature of Roman Catholic heterodoxy Pre-schism popes: 'universal rulers' of the Orthodox Church? Peter, prince of the apostles, and the hierarchical structure of the church Orthodox communion with Rome I'm sure there are many more, but that's all I have time to look up right now. Hopefully they'll be of some profit! In Christ, Michael |
