Charles Marden Fitch

Is Charles Marden Fitch still alive? I recently bought one of his books that was published in the 70's, and he seems like a really interesting guy.

I tried to find him on the web. Not much luck. I had no idea who he was, except that an oncidium intergeneric was named after him. After reading his book, and seeing how much into plants and photography he is, I thought it might be cool to talk to him.
