I found out what car i'm getting for my first today =].
i am getting my dad's 2002 red land rover freelander S when i get my permit this august/september. he is then going to lease a 2007? Buick Lucerne CXS V6... it will be his first ever lease and i'm surprised because in the past he has been against it. he wants it in glacier blue metallic (the icy light blue color). |

Being all but one of my cars were on leases, I'd be happy to answer any questions you guys might have on them; purchase/finance, on the other hand, I'd think I have some expertise in them as well. Anyway, feel free to inquire and post your questions here...I'm sure we have a good group represented here to answer all relevant questions

Yes, I have been tempted, for in my area, I received an advertisement for a brand new, 5 door Toyota Yaris, 1.5 manual that will cost me 65 dollars per week, which is roughly 5 hours work. I have never been so tempted to go for it, but I've kept off it waiting for it to get off my mind. But that new car smell and toyota reliability keeps calling me. Dont think its worth it though, or is it?

The new car smell is actually toxic fumes emitted from the plastic components such as the dash, but what ever makes you happy. Just don't forget that the novelty of purcashing a new car will wear off once the resalel value on it will start to fall and you will still be struggling to pay it off, unless of course you already have a fair amount of money squirreled away or have a good paying job, in which case I say go for it.

Find some way of knowing if the dealership is far from meeting tis quota. They'll be more willing to negotiate (or in my family's case, persistent in selling you the car that you just trest drove). The dealership was asking for over a USD3,000 markup, but were so desperate to meet their quota, that they were persistent in having us buy the Prius off the lot with a $170 markup (their policy was that people not on the waiting list have to pay a markup).

would this be in addition to or replace your camry? 65 AUD a week ![]() It would replace the Camry, all up I would have some 6,000 dollars and a decent job, but AXLE is right. In a couple of months, I would have lost a lot of money and would no longer have a new car, and would no longer have the space of a wagon, and I quite love my wagon too ![]() But still, picking up a new car from the dealer... niceee ![]() *ok ok keep off it!!* |

Fresa, don't worry, within a couple of years I bet you'll be able to get a very nice car. Just save now, buy later. If that makes any sense... You speak the truth my friend, I am not *seriously* considering it, but I am tempted. I mean its a NO, dont get it, buy boy would it be cool ![]() Besides right now all money is going into paying University and if any is left, I'd like to visit home in the freeze-my-balls-off season, perhaps with a short visit to the USA or to the UK. All up, The Yaris is a bad idea I know. But there's the want, for sure ![]() Quote, originally posted by stevenzoz »theres many ways to maximize the space of a small car I need to maximise the space in my WAGON. I dont fit in a small car, and I'm not fat or tall. I just carry everywhere my Bike, Kayak, help people moving and so on... just got myself something to load up the roof of the car as well ![]() |

OK what a day!
i went car shopping for the second time in 2 months =] my friend got her restricted licsence last week and has been in need of a car. she really wanted a mazda 3. we went to one dealer (Wayne Mazda) and they had a black one (the color she wanted) in stock. it was a 3i touring. they were selling it for $18,200 and were gonna give it to them (she was with her mom) for $17,000-- which made the monthly finance payments equal $290 a month for 72 months. it was way to much to pay so then they decided to look at used ones. the only mazda 3's they had that were used were predominatnly manual (she wanted an auto) so at that point we decided to look at used 6's but they didnt have anything appealing. We left because they weren't being cooperative at all. We then went to Lodi Mazda which opened like 4 months ago or something. They didn't have any Mazda 3's with automatics that she liked. all the nice ones had manual. at that point they decided to lease a mazda 6 for $265 a month with $3,000 down and an additional $2,000 down from the dealer, equaling a $5,000 down, down payment. They got her the car in less than an hour and we drove it out of the dealer today. i got the first ride in it! the car rides sooo smooth (we test drove both the 6 & the 3.) MSRP is $21k and change. the options it has: rear spoiler (which she really wanted), 6-disc CD changer, chrome trim exterior package, and wheel locks. She is so happy with the purchase. It's Onyx Black w/ beige cloth interior. HERE ARE PICTURES (camera phone quality): ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() before this, she's been driving her sister's 2005 dark red mustang v6 around which is a hell of a car. her mom has a 2006 black bmw 325xi as well. i got my first ride in a new 3 series today ![]() |

UPDATE:
me and my dad got into a bit of a fight over the whole car thing. now he is going to be trading in his car instead of getting an additional one. he told me he was getting a charger. i explained to him why he couldnt because of the RWD and how we need AWD and we'd be stuck when the snow comes. our last few cars have been suvs and they have been no problem in the snow. anyways, i made him call his friend that works for infiniti. i did a bit of eavesdropping and i think he works for a dealer that sells nissan and infiniti under the same dealership. and ive narrowed it down to what it could be and leads me to believe that its Lynes Infiniti/Nissan in Bloomfield NJ. and aparently yesterday he found out the guys sells nissans as well as infinitis so as of right now, we are also looking at getting a nissan. here's our list of possibilities in the order we are most likely to get them in: 1. Infiniti G35x 2. Nissan Pathfinder 4x4 3. Nissan Murano AWD 4. Infiniti FX35 AWD 5. Infiniti M35x I would love to have any of those from that list. they all excite me, some more than others, but i love them all. he keeps pushing off going car shopping. which is mostly my fault but he probably will be giving his friend a call back tomorrow at the latest (he first talked to his friend about it last night). I expect this car will be purchased before August 20th. as mentioned before, i'll keep you guys updated. |
