It IS a pretty small space rock, TBFH. I think I read that it would create a 4 mile crater if it hit.

Compare that to the Chicxulub crater. 112 miles in diameter, caused by a rock 6 miles across. Big difference.

I'd be worried if NASA was the only eyeing the sky.

It isn't.

On the 11/9/11 the comet YU55 is going to pass between the Earth and the moon.

Not according to the GIF!

But it is strange, there's been a lot of commercials about this emergency broadcast test.

Seems like a weird thing to make a big deal about.

Which begs the question, if you're one of the few in this world who DID poses knowledge of it interfering with our 2 orbits, and the possibility was high that it would disrupt, do you tell the people of the world, or let them go out in peace? [surrender]

Um what? The reports say it will pass within the Moon's orbit, which is what the gif shows.

It would actually be a good wake up call if it hit.

I'm not talking striking a city or a mass of water near a city, but out in the desert where no one is around, just so the impact can be fully examined and we can know exactly with physical facts and science what kind of destruction an object of this size and speed is capable of when striking the Earth.

In your first post you wrote:

YU55 is going to pass between the Earth and the moon. Now you're trying to change your story when someone pointed out the error.

That's the way the date is on the other side of the water (and probably other places too).

God knows why but in the UK it's dd/mm/year and in the USA as well as other places it's mm/dd/year.

Is that what you meant ?

"2005 YU55 cannot hit Earth at least over the interval that we can compute the motion reliably, which extends for several hundred years," said Lance Benner, NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory research scientist.
So anyone worried ?
No, no I'm not.

We should be using this as a practice mission like from the movie Armageddon. Be a nice trial run.

Nuke the sh/t out of that little aircraft carrier sized rock!

when is this happening again?
I'll probably be sleeping when it happens so no big deal to me.
If it hits us at least I will not feel any pain while sleeping.
