Default Google latitude...
I can't work out if it does anything facebook places doesn't?

Anyone found much of a use for it? It seems to combine the functionality of AroundMe as well. Maybe it's a better alternative for that.

its actually been around for about 2 1/2 years now in its current form and is actually based on the previous ` dodgeball` sms facility (although greatly expanded now) - facebook check-ins etc are the new comer

Yeah, I was using it on iPhone 2 years ago.

Removed it because I don't want everyone to know where I am all the time.

That´s why i´d never use such a product/program, not only are your friends seeing where you are, but i can only imagine which other companies are seeing and using the data.
Same go´s for Facebook and all the other similar sites, i don´t think many of you are informed well enough to understand how much Data about you is actually being recorded.
Just yesterday there was a prog on TV about this German guy that sued Facebook into releasing the data they had saved on him, what did he get ? 1200 pages of data (pm´s, posts, metadata, places he´s been and god knows what)
The CIA or the KGB doesn´t have these amounts of data on "normal" single individuals.

Had it installed on my iPhone ages ago, as did my wife and a few of our friends. You soon learn that its not fun to have everyone knowing where you are 24/7...... uninstalled.
