The new recipe of Britain's best-loved brown sauce, synonymous with bacon sandwiches, fry-ups and sausage and mash, now contains 38 per cent less salt. But critics argue the change in salt levels for such small amounts of food makes no difference to our diet. The previous version of HP Sauce contained 2.1g of salt per 100g. The new version contains 1.3g – but fans claim the change has come at a high price. They say it just doesn't taste the same. edit: its bland , brown and sticky , none of the bite it used to have - reducing the salt has affected the other ingredients |

With the possible exception of Marmite, those are things which are not commonly eaten over here, maybe back the 1900s they was. Today they are rarely eaten and only then mostly by 80yr olds in their local rundown cafe. Haggis is a Scottish thing and I don't know how common it is to find it up there. Never had jellied eels, but my Nan liked them.....I think. |

That you Brits don´t have any taste is a given,.. Black (AKA blood) pudding is delicious, so is Marmite and Haggis - you really should at least try them! Haven't tried jellied eels or bubble and squeek, but some think they're very tasty as well. |

Coming from the land of rotten cabbage, that's amusing... So hey you like your eggs disgusting, more power to you. ![]() btw rotten cabbage ? Do you mean "Sauerkraut" ? If so that´s not rotten, it´s fermented. And if you call that rotten i could list you a long ass list of other fermented products you probably use on a daily basis now - german bread is something special - last time i used a loaf to bang in the tent pegs (nails) then had to use a felling saw to cut it in half. ![]() |
