Going to New Vegas - Need some Advice!

Hey guys, I'm leaving for Vegas this sunday and just had a few questions!

1. What are some good resturants to eat at? Nothing cheap or shitty.
2. Any good Jazz bars in Vegas?
3. Definitively going to see Penn and Teller, do you need to book tickets in advanced or is that necessary?
4. How much are the rides on top of the Stratosphere?
5. Anything I should know?

Thanks guys!

Book now for Penn and Teller. Probably won't be a problem getting tickets, but it won't hurt to get that out of the way now if you really want to see them. They might even be dark on the night you plan to see them, so check before going.

I like Gallagher's steakhouse in New York New York.

They might even be dark on the night you plan to see them? What does that mean?

They don't have a show.

I noticed you didn't mention Cirque and Blue Man Group. You must go. MUST! I went to Ka and enjoyed it, and had front row to BMG and it was AWESOME!

First part sounds gay and I've already seen the BMG!

If you want a burger then hit The Mirage and go to BLT Burger. BLT Burger is the only BLT restaurant that isn't reservation/dress up and its the only one that gives burgers the others are all Fish or Kobe/Steak. Their Kobe burger is ****in MONEY! Sweet potato fries and a nice Chimay Red... ****in Gangsta Burger.

2. I don't know of any but if you find one let me know.
3. I would book in advance but then again I don't think right now is the busiest time at Vegas due to the season and insane temps.
4. I never made it there to tell you.
5. Terry Fator is kinda funny if you get a good deal on some tickets on his show. Hit the blackjack tables at the Venetian Casino. I ended up there with my last 20 and got up 9 hours later with 4G.

1. The buffets are the best food I had apart from one posh place in MGM Grand (on studio walk) that I can't remember the name of. Try the buffet at the Hilton, a $10 cab ride from the strip but free booze for $20.
2. The piano bar in New York, New York is brilliant. (it's not technically Jazz, but dualling pianos are the next best thing IMHO).
4. You can get a pass that includes all the rides for about $30 or so (the roller coaster on the MGM grand is worth a go as well)
5. Get a cab between hotels - you'll be soaked in sweat if you walk between them at this time of year. And the MGM grand smells all fragrant inside. Other than that, there just isn't time for me to go through even 10% of the cool things to see. The Paris has the best buffet in the world (it's down the stairs in the middle of the gaming floor)

I'd recommend going into all the hotels on the strip for a look around, even circus circus. The most amazing (in no particular order) are The Venetian, MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay (try and get into the pool area), The Luxor (from the outside anyway), The Bellagio, The Wynn.

Hooters is worth a visit just to see the hot girls in tight outfits.

Thanks guys.

I'll check out the dueling pianos, sounds interesting.

So it is worth it to check out all of the casinos? Do most of them have decent bars inside? What are good places to drink at if not?

Buffets sound like cheap ****. I'm going for expensive classy food. That Japanese restaurant kind of has me convinced...is it located on the strip?

Also, can you drink on the street like in New Orleans?

Yes it is worth just walking the strip and going in all the hotels. I promise you will never have seen anything like the venetian or bellagio in your life. I wouldn't bother with the tropicana, it's for an older crowd. Don't bother trying the nightclubs unless you are planning on spending 300-400 dollars on a night out. The hotel bars are much better. There are great bars in the MGM grand and mandalay bay, and good ones in all the others.

Buffets....believe me, it's not cheap ****. You'll have to try one to realise. Try the Hilton, MGM grand or paris - you'll have to queue for a while and it's about $30 - $40 for a meal but the choice is endless. For decent restaurants walk down studio walk in the MGM grand or choose one of several in Bellagio, Paris, Venetian or City Centre. You're talking a minimum of $80 a head and most are celebrity chef ones. Top notch food though.

You can drink (and smoke) pretty much anywhere. For a really good drink go to the bar in the mandalay bay and get a yard long rum and coke on a lanyard and ask for a few extra shots. The jello shots in MGM grand in the bar near the monorail station are pretty potent as well.

To be honest, the whole place is just one massive ****ing filmset. I could go on for days about all the cool things I saw but it's pointless as you'll discover loads of cool things just going into the hotels. We spent two full days just looking around all the hotels. I'm going back in December though I enjoyed it that much.

Yeah. I only have three days in Vegas because the rest of my trip is going rafting down the grand canyon.

Does dress matter for any of these places?

Does the Ultra-Luxe still serve humans?

You're more than likely to see someone in a mankini, a naked dwarf, a stripper, a pimp and some of the worlds most humungous cowboy hats in even the poshest of hotels.
