Quite a passionate and candid letter to his employees. |

I really hope RIM pulls through with QNX phones. I'm willing to look past all the things my current blackberry lacks because I favor of how quick it is for productivity-related tasks (my phone is a tool, not a toy!). But lets be honest, the web browser is a joke (perhaps the webkit browser is better but my current phone doesn't support it), the specs of RIM's flagship phones are miles behind everyone else, and the OS is not intuitive at all. I don't understand how RIM could neglect to address all of the problems it has for this long. There must be a serious disconnect between phones and the real world at RIM.

I have read a few emails like this from major companies and they are quite humble and powerful in my opinion. |

The response from RIM, TBH, doesn't exactly encourage confidence or address the points raised. It reads like a generic "Yes, there were problem, but they're in the past and we've got a great future with profits at a high level - nothing for you to worry about" sort of press statement.
I really liked Jobs's address to the people - I would hope the RIM management looked at it, but I would expect they dismissed it as "Apple propaganda", rather than the great example of what management can be! |

Where is Jobs' address to the people? |

Their response to the RIM exec's email is to be expected from the contents of his letter. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3LEXae1j6EY |

But it was an open letter, expressing inside concerns that shareholders, partners, employees, etc, will have read and so it really needs more than a rah, rah response, it needed something to reassure the readers that there is actually something being done - heck, the response even mentions a decline in revenue which is certainly not reassuring. |
