Default People are idiots...
Really, you tell somone "Don't load this software, it ****s your PC up." and what's the first thing they do when they get the PC back? Go-on, take a wild guess....

How do these people not choke to death when they eat? [cursing]

I wouldn't mind but they shout at me when they bring it back with the same goddamn problem like it's my fault they can't follow simple instructions.

I'd guess EA Origin or Windows Vista.

In this case Bullguard Internet security. They loaded it last week, and it ****ed their PC up. I removed it and suggested they try a different AV, even loading Microsoft Security Essentials for them. It came back in Monday, they'd loaded Bullguard again and it had ****ed their system up. Again, I removed it, loaded MSE and told them bluntly. "DON'T LOAD BULLGUARD, IT ****S YOUR PC UP!"

This morning they came in very angry about "This is the third time we've had to bring this here! You're not doing your job!" and yes, Bullguard was on again. [cursing]

We're all stupid on occasion, some people seem to make a career of it.

Hexus' you may be telling the wrong person, doesn't sound like they've the smarts to turn the PC on, let alone actually download and install something they'd been told TWICE not to do.
next time they come in, I'd suggest refusing to serve them - pass them onto your recommended (worst trading enemy) alternative - then phone them to let them know what is going to be coming in their door.

Is there a reason why Bulldog won't work on their system? Seem's to me they think you should be able to make it work rather than uninstall and put something else on. Which a monkey could probably do.

The service doesn't start correctly, it attempts to load but sticks and runs at 99% CPU usage. I thought it was malware related but the system is clear and other anti-virus's seem to run without issue. I've checked for potentially conflicting programs which there are none. It seems to be one of those random inexplicable software/hardware conflicts which I see quite regularly.

Did you try debugging the process(es)? MS have some diag tools and good articles on technet. It is easier to just format and start afresh but much more exciting to dig deep and found out the problem.

I'm assuming the company Hexus works for is not charging the customer each time he returns with the same problem, though if they are then more power to them.

I hope they do - the client was told what to do to avoid the problem, but persisted against the recommendations.

There are some free articles. Just did a quick search and found this one:

No, they're not being charged each visit. Whilst it'd be nice to spend an hour or so digging deep and identifying the exact cause, it's cheaper for the customer to just remove the offending program and provide an alternative. Especially now my boss has be charging per half hour of labour.

They're probably installing it inadvertently may be using an ISP install disk. These crappy anit virus programs seem to have a tendency to get themselves reinstalled.

I know it's easy to laugh at people who can't use computers but what you need to do is imagine if you bought a space rocket and something went wrong. Would you know what to do then? To a lot of people a computer is just as confusing.
