I know some can. But I don't even mean have a laugh at themselves personally, just the typical American stereotypes such as the blind patriotism, and the friendly fire jokes. No need to take it personal.
It has to be funny first before I can laugh.

This is the point. You won't find it funny if it's laughing at an American stereotype for example. At least trey parker and matt stone (or whoever did team america) can squeeze some humour out of it.

Wrong. I make fun of America all the time. His joke simply sucked, no matter what it was based upon.

Is this too hard of a concept for you to understand?

Can Americans not have a laugh at them selves for once?
Hey now, I was actually the one who posted this.

Your anecdote is your answer. Clearly Americans can laugh at themselves, Parker and Stone are extremely popular and they constantly poke fun at the country.

I thought it was a bit funny actually.

You see, as a Brit with good teeth, I'm never going to be offended by this stereotype. What's more it can actually be funny if used in a funny situation or joke. You can't just say "you have bad teeth" and expect it to be funny.

I had perfect teeth until recently, but now it looks like a ****ing infection is going to mean me losing two at the lower back of my mouth. Serves me right for ignoring it!

I like teeth discussion.

I had my first filling recently. After 24 hours the tooth ache was absolutely catastrophic. Took 4 day to go away. Tramadol barely took th edge off it. Nothing is worse than tooth ache.

I had to have a water jet put between my teeth and my gum, they basically jammed it down the side of all my teeth. The injection only started working halfway through. Then I tried to have a drink when I got home but because my lips felt 10 feet wide I missed my mouth and poured it all down my front. Good times.

Hey, if we're talking about teeth!
I've just had mine sorted, just had (last 2 weeks) the last of my dental work that needed doing.
Had 5 teeth out and 5 fillings, getting my top dentures tomorrow (hopefully), then I'll finally have a smile!
Hopefully won't have anymore toothache either!

Would have liked to have Implants to replace my lost teeth, but at £800 a tooth, it would cost me quite a lot of cash, so dentures will have to do.

£800 a tooth? Good god. I don't think i'd bother either. Glad you're sorted though.
