If you're concerned about your sight, go see an Ophthalmologist if you haven't already, and get a checkup. I wouldn't recommend an Optometrist, personally. An Ophthalmologist is an MD, while a Optometrist is not, at least here in the US. While an Optometrist is good, an Ophthalmologist is better, as they provide a broader range of care.
Sound advice, especially if the deterioration is quite rapid as there could be something more serious at fault.
As has been said, AFAIK, it's generally a weakening of the muscles and/or a hardening of the cornea so it doesn't flex as easily. Perhaps cataracts could also have a similar affect?
If you're spending a lot of time looking at a monitor, reading, or doing something else where the focal distance doesn't change, it's probably a good idea to break your focus and look around so the eye muscles get a bit of a break.

Hope it's nothing serious!

Ive had a 24" monitor for few years now and it doesnt help because the text is still small do to high resolution.

I do spend 2-3 hours daily out doors with my dog, so thats been helpful. Seems to me that my left eye is getting worse even with glasses, so ill go see a Ophthalmologist. Thanks for the advice.

Similar in the UK.

My wife cannot prescribe medication and must refer anyone who needs such treatment to a GP or local hospital (depending on severity of issue).

I agree an Ophthalmologist can provide a wider range of care but in the first instance, unless you are really concerned with your vision, an Optometrist would normally be your first call for a standard eye-test.

Whilst they may need to refer you, a good OpTom should be able to spot most things. Think the best my wife did was with a young kid who's mother had brought him for an eye test as he was complaining of headaches whilst working at school. 10 minutes later mother and kid were in a taxi heading to the local hospital when my wife spotted the cause of the headaches - a tumour.
It sounds like your wife is great at her job. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/cool1.gif Anyway, I just figured that since the OP seems concerned, that he may as well go "to the top", if you will. Of course, he's probably just getting older (as we all are) so an eye exam by either would be great, and any major issues would be referred. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/wink1.gif I guess that I just feel more comfortable with an Ophthalmologist since they're more likely to be able to facilitate treatments for diseases. I've also seen an Ophthalmologist (admittedly on and off) since I was a child, so I guess I'm a bit biased. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ies/blush1.gif

OP - either way, I would get an eye exam.
