Moved in with the GF

Been a member here for...9 years now? Gone through all kinds of things with you guys from good to bad. But today I am happy to discuss something good (unless you are Will then this is illogical)

Met my girlfriend about two years ago, we hired her as our accountant at my family owned business. After sometime she and I ended up dating and have been together now for a little over a year. A month ago we decided to move in together. So I kicked my roomies out, repainted the interior of the house, new doors, knobs, locks, switches, outlets, lighting, refinished the cabinets, new fridge, water heater, and new carpet, whole bunch of crap. This past weekend she and her two little girls ( ages 3 and 8) moved in.

Gotta say after this past month I feel like a completely different person, in a good way. Feel like I'm growing up. I used to help my old man with home renovations and say to myself "pffft I'll never need to know how to do this or that." and here I am today doing those very things. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ies/laugh1.gif

We are still going through the unpacking and settling in phase. Once that is done I am going to begin redoing the shared bathroom, and then the master bathroom. Then the focus will shift to the outside of the house, painting and landscaping. By end of the summer I should have a nice compilation of before and after photos to share.

If you were to have asked me a years or so ago "Hey Omid, how would you like to move in with your gf and two kids?" I'd have ****ing laughed in your face. Funny how things change. Now I can tell you that I'm looking forward to the life together and even the challenges ahead. Never thought I'd end up with children to take care of just yet but heck they are great, and the four of us make for a happy family. I have a ring in the works as well...should have it back from the shop start of next month. Had it made out of some diamonds from her mom and my mom. Once we are settled in and things calm down I will pop the question.

Here is a picture of me and my girl at the World of Coca-Cola here in Georgia.

I honestly hope it goes better for you than it did for me. Good luck and enjoy it as much as you can while it's happening just in case.

Grats man!

I just bought my own place too but I got a little lazy and hired contractors to do most of it. Still remodeling right now. Glad things are working out for you!

Congrats on your new place as well, it is a very rewarding feeling once you are done and sit back and admire your hard work. But don't get me wrong had I more cash flow I'd have paid someone in a heart beat. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ies/laugh1.gif

I'm doing good, live in the city now (Bethesda) and can't wait to move into my condo, it is being completely redone. All I need now is a wife and I will take care of that soon hopefully. I'm going to go back to Iran and bring back a girl I've been in love with since I met her 15 years ago :P
She has been patiently waiting for my lazy ass to get my act together.

Congratulations! Hope everything continues on the right track. Hopefully she says yes when you pop the question. The ring idea is a very thoughtful one.

Also, is 'Persian' still a correct term?

I was quite skeptical myself, surprisingly it's been completely pain free. It is a family business (I started it with my father) and so in a sense it can be heated between me and my father at times. But I think that has helped her understand where I come from and more about me. As far as her and I we have not once had an argument at work. From the get go I made it completely clear that work is a priority and personal affairs must be kept outside of work. We have 12 employees and they all know of our relationship only once did it become an issue. (an employee felt my gf was getting special privileges and pay[she doesn't], after a long meeting and talk it was sorted out). In all it has truly been trouble free. We were concerned that too much time together would be an issue...but after a year of working and dating and a month of us living together (I lived with her while I worked on the house) its been smooth sailing. Truly I'm in shock and pure bliss to have found such compatibility.

Sorry that response turned out to be so long.

Good for you man, gotta get you butt in gear sometime. Act while the iron is still hot...besides think of all that good home cooking....omg. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...s/biggrin1.gif

Also, is 'Persian' still a correct term? Thanks bud. Technically yea, Persian, doesn't follow suit anymore. Especially in these trying times for Iran. Most of my Iranian family refer to themselves as Persian because they remember a time when Iran was a place of beauty and culture. They want to separate themselves from what Iran is today in the modern era.

I live together with my gf since June last year. Most of the time its okay, but I do miss the old times when I had my own apartment, where I could do what I wanted and when I want it.

The good thing about her is, the does the cleaning. I vaccum once every two months or so and do the dusting on my electronics (PC, Monitor, Plasma lol).

I caught myself thinking about whether it was the right move or not a couple of days ago, and maybe that alone means its not working. Since then I cant stop thinking about it. But maybe the 4 room apartment is too small for us, I dont know.

Just make sure that you guys leave each other enough room, and that one can shut a door behind him and is left alone for as long as you/she wants. Then it'll work.

pesty4077 03-16-2011 03:13 AM

I've been with my gf for 7 months. I wonder how much longer before something like moving in becomes a topic? [surrender]

Well congrats on the move, See looks nice, and as long as you get along with the kids well. I'm sure you do, otherwise she wouldn't move in probably.

lakraboob 03-16-2011 05:51 AM

Good for you Omid! Glad you are happy!

Any ex-daddy issues with the mom/the girls? I hope not. I hate douches.[rofl]

Indian Butt Magic 03-16-2011 06:40 AM

Any attention you pay to the girls will pay dividends with the girlfriend.
