According the BBC the driver and his 15-year-old son "felt threatened by protesters hitting and kicking his car".

As a cyclist, lover of Brazil and hater of the VW Golf, this really makes me uneasy.

Violence is never an answer, but in this case, that man should have been mauled.

My friend has a VW Golf, I can't look at those the same way anymore.

A bit of an over reaction* to sodding cyclists blocking the road for other users (I used to cycle a lot, before y'all go mental!).

*To say the least...

Im trying to search even a spec of a feasible justification for doing something as random and horrific as that, but i just cant. Truly, WTF.

I hate it when I come to an onslaught of cyclists in the road, or a cyclist riding down a busy road, down hill, in dim light with little reflective clothing, and on double solid line road. Curse them out? Damn right I do..... But run them over? I've said it in jest. But there isn't an ounce of such filth in me to ever do what I just saw. Absolutely terrible and there is no justifiable reason for it.*

*Unless there was an assassin in the back seat that shot the driver in the head during a scuffle and the resulting blow to the head cause the drivers foot to slam on the gas.....then maybe.

That is sad indeed. Hit and runs are just not right. I can understand the guys anger, but to take it to a level which he did, I hope he get's a good punishment.

If people started kicking my car, the worst I'd do is wind the window down, throw some rubbish at them then curse them as I drive in the opposite direction.
