Default Question about my new LCD TV
Hey guys,

I just got a Samsung LN46C630K1F 120hz LCD TV. I've been using my old standard tv for about 16yrs, finally died.

My question was, seeing as I am very new to HD, will the top and bottom black bars when playing dvds in 16:9 burn in or hurt the tv at all?

I've heard about this on some tvs but after spending around $800 on this I'm a bit nervous about it.

Thanks!

You only need to worry about burn in on sets from many years ago.

LCDs don't tend to suffer from burn in. In any case it's bright images you have to worry about, not dark.

Shouldn't hurt , but when I use to sell TV's 5 years ago we had several types of TV's that would get burn in even LCD's. But it took weeks of playing the same DVD 12 hours a day to screw it up. It would always freak out customers who said they were going with LCD because plasmas had burn in problems. I would then say look over there at that Sony SXRD rear projection or the cheap brand LCD on the shelf which had "burn in" from leaving Lord of the Rings DVD on the Menu for hours everyday.
