Sounds good, appreciate the help. The gun was purchased new ($1100) so yea I have their full warranty. I am pleased thus far but I think in a few years I may trade up to a higher model like the special combat, or maybe a different brand altogether.

I shoot Federal HST as my favorite hollowpoint, never had an issue, and i reload with hornady XTP rounds on occasion, no problems with them either. (these are in my 1911, i've shot a ton in .40 and never had a problem) my kimber is non-ramped as well

My first handgun was an HK USP .40, and i LOVE it. The damned thing is rugged, good looking, and reliable. Amazingly, it even managed to survive a factory hot-round, which damaged nothing more than the extractor claw. Shipped to HK, and not only did they fix it, but they replaced the slide and springs in the weapon with more modern ones, because they saw that they were outdated (no cost) - total repair bill, $60 from HK themselves.

I found my USP used for $620.. worth every penny if you ask me.

Hey Omid! Tell me about it. I had originally considered a gun smith, but man, HK's service (on a 15 year old weapon none the less - the barrel markings date it to 94) was incredible.

And the Sigs are great weapons, though i wish they were a bit cheaper. Then again, HK's new aren't any better, so....

Right now, brand new the USPs shouldn't be much over that... With the P30 now in both 9 and 40 and the HK45 covering the 45s nicely, they dropped the price on the USPs. As soon as the P30 .40s were in sufficient supply, I sold my USP .40 to my dad and nabbed one up. The only non-HK handguns I have are my Kimbers...

Though I'm tempted to nab up a Sig Mosquito... I am waiting for the shop I bought a Sig 522 Tactical rifle from to ship it, and the Gemtech suppressor I'm looking at to slap on it would work with the Mosquito as well. [surrender]

Omid - Have you looked to see if the HPs are getting snagged on the feed ramp? Certain HP rounds have that issue, ESPECIALLY with 1911s. I haven't had a problem with the aforementioned Hydrashoks, HSTs or any of the various Hornady XTP-based rounds.

LM - thanks for the info; i hadn't been following for a while, and had totally forgotten about the .40 P30... might have to look into them. [thumbup][thumbup]

(But I am NEVER selling my USP. just such an iconic and dependable pistol, it would suck to lose..)

That is damned good after sales service - they may have been interested in checking the damage to the components as well, could be why the lot was replaced.

Actually, that was the other cool thing. The gunsmith working on my weapon actually phoned me up while he was working, and told me what he found. IN this case, we was looking over everything, and saw that the hammer spring and slide were well worn down; he had just finished work on other USPs, and still had parts available, so he fixed mine up as well. Certainly no complaints! [thumbup]

Well, it looks like the company I work for is going under. Might have to wait just a bit for that handgun...

Anyone know of any companies needing a creative director? Ha, fat chance!

Thanks for the kind words guys, most appreciated! A sign of the times I suppose...

I've worked there for 3 years and have never taken more than 2 days in a row off (on top of weekends), so I suppose this will be a nice little vacation, I can milk the unemployment for a few months while I pursue some side projects.

Yeah man don't worry about it to much, the fear of the unknown is scary, but try not to let it get you down. Just stay positive and use this time to enjoy life a little bit as it might be the last time you get a break like this for awhile. Then after you take a break start looking for a new company / career path. You might get lucky and find something even better than your last job. I know every time I got fired / laid off it was a blessing in disguise.

Well, I got a job with our main competitor, includes a pay raise, 3 week trip to Vancouver BC (and one week every 3 months), and I still get to work from home! Looks like I can still afford that gun after all!
