Default Tron: Legacy - Movie thread *spoilers*
Yes, I did. Midnight showing.

Will pre-order as soon as its out. LOVED it.

The original Tron was a marvel of effects the first time, this doesn't dissapoint in that area. If you go to an IMAX screening make sure get a seat further back, some of the 3d is REALLY in your face and it made my eyes cross in some spots.

Music wise, much appreciated by Daft Punk, loved the 80's bit of music in Flynns arcade, they picked two great songs for those scenes.

Olivia Wilde = Yum. Quorra is the best bit of binary in the movie. Her character is naive.

I saw one plot twist a mile away. If you've seen the first movie you'll catch it right away.

The CGI for Jeff Bridges face is pretty bad in the "real world" scenes. Its much better in the Grid, though no-where near Avatar's use of the technology. Facial muscles don't move just quite right. The programmers didn't translate it as good as in Avatar. Or maybe CLU is supposed to be artificial looking being that he's a program.

ISOs, a little WTF where did that come from bit there. Not really necessary to the story I'd say.

I will probably see it again this weekend. I enjoyed it enough that a 2nd showing is in order to catch more details.

From all that I've read is that what you said is quite true about the graphics and all.

But the movie sucks.

Good movie, great soundtrack. Only complaint from me is the 3d, it didn't work as well as in Avatar. It was like the other eye is focusing on something else than the other.

I liked it. It had some slow parts and the story was a bit convoluted, but I actually thought it was very entertaining. The visuals were fantastic, and the sound track was amazing. I felt like I was watching a feature-length Mass Effect film.

Just come back from seeing it, thought it was pretty damn amazing actually, and it perfectly captured the essence/style of the original in every way.

The plot is almost irrelevant, it's just a visual/aural masterpiece...

Did you get a chance to see it in IMAX 3D?

Just saw it in IMAX 3D. You are correct in saying that a bit of screen distance is definitely helps. I was in a corner and hand to constantly adjust my eyes.

I just saw the non-3D version. It was only so so, but after watching it I can say CGI has come a LONG way since 1982.

I was pleasantly surprised by the film. The visuals were breath taking and the soundtrack by Daft Punk was phenomenal. The acting was pretty good and I thought Clu looked great. The facial animations could have been improved, but they did not detract me from the movie whatsoever. I felt the storyline needed some slight revisions simply because I had more questions than answers at the end. It certainly left the door open to a third movie which I quite honestly want to become reality. I know that they can come up with some very interesting and entertaining plots to make a worthwhile third. I just hope that Legacy does well enough to allow the production of a third Tron film. Thoughts (with spoilers) below in white.

Flynn may have been derezzed by combining with Clu, but can Sam resurrect his father in a similar manner to how they were able to repair Quorra? Recall that Sam did maintain Flynn's disc as returned to the 'real world'.

Does Tron survive as he falls into the sea of simulation?

Considering Quorra is human now, what does she have to offer to the human race? The entire concept with the ISOs needed more explanation in my opinion.

We catch a glimpse of Edward Dillinger Jr. in the ENCOM meeting. Considering the circumstances of ENCOM's newest OS being released free over the net, I'm certain he is not happy with Sam's actions. What is current status of his father, Ed Dillinger Sr.?

A third film focusing on Flynn's resurrection would be ideal. Portray Dillinger Jr. as the main antagonist as he seeks revenge against Sam. Take it to the world wide web as Dillinger Jr. has released an aggressive and destructive virus. Change things up a bit and debut some new games. Have Daft Punk return, but bring another electronica DJ to create a good DJ battle. And clarify the entire situation with Quorra and the importance of the ISOs.

Loved the old one, loved this.

Friend and I lolled few times because of the straight copies from Star Wars moments/scenes.

Amazing, let me say again, amazing soundtrack. Daft Punk really nailed it. And lol @ the cameo.[thumbup]

Great great experience overall! (Also saw it in 3D)

Glad I went to go see this. I enjoyed watching it immensely. I think it lived up to the first one.

Spoiler!

But there are a few questions that I wish they would have touched on. They never went into the time difference. Even if we are conservative and say that one minute in the real world equals 1 hour in the grid, which isn't to far-fetched since they hinted at hours in the grid only being minutes in the real world.

If Flynn has been in the grid for 20 years real world time, that would mean Flynn has experienced 1,200 years in the Grid World (60:1 ratio estimate). That's pretty significant.

I also want to know where the vegetables and the pig came from that they were eating for dinner.

I also think Tron should have had a more significant role.

Well Flynn said the portal is open for 8 hours in the grid and only 1 millisecond in the real world due to the power it consumes. Ergo, 1ms = 8 hours.

I loved it personally, just a very enjoyable ride. Items of it could definietely have been explored in more depth which would have added more substance to the universe, but then that would have hindered other parts of the film. I can see a lot of tie-ins through Novels / Comics coming to explore the meaning of the expanded universe.

I assume most of the questions regarding the Iso's and Flynn's vision for the grid / the corruption it suffered through Clu would be explored in a third part

Really want to revisit the original now as it's been so long, so very long.

I have no idea wha happens in the videogame but it's prequel to the Tron: Legacy movie.

Flynn created them? He possessed the power to create stuff in The Grid.

I heard that there are no references to the way computers work in the movie at all. The reason why I loved Tron and Tron 2.0 the game was because of how the created an entire world that feels completely believable as a metaphor for the way computers work.

Is what I heard true or not?

Movie was garbage. Acting was laughable, dialog was crap, story was boring and uneventful. The action was pitiful as well.

The only saving grace was that one chick playing Qurururoao was HOT.

Well i got bored and decided to do some.... math. I've double checked it to be sure. So if we go by the 8 hours in the grid = 1ms (what he said about the portal being open) and that he was gone for 20 years (?), it comes out to roughly 210,240,000,000 years in the grid. Now i have to call bs on that. There has to be a much smaller ratio for time in the grid to time in the read world. 1000:1 just seems way to large to me. I'm more inclined to believe something like dracom_ma said with 60:1.

Whell, what you guys think?

Nah it is pretty much fact. You cannot consider that movie as having good acting or dialog..it isn't subject, it is universally piss poor.
