Default England smash the Aussies to win the Ashes
First time in 24 years we won on their turf. Sure it was not the team of a few years ago, but then again you could say when they were thrashing us we were not at out best either. [thumbup]

Yup and at least two were by an innings - I bet they're thankful for Perth...

We're thankful it's over!

Not making excuses, the team is useless at the moment (I blame Clarke personally) and doesn't deserve to win. But did you see the ball the English used in the final innings? Surely they've figured out a sneaky way of tampering with the ball?

What do you call an Aussie cricketer with 100 runs to his name?

A Bowler.

Trick is throwing it in on the bounce on dry bits of the square with the seam horizontal. Or bowling cross seam and having a really good shiner buff out the damage to the shiny side.

Clarke was bad, but then again save Hussey all of the australian batsmen looked fidgety, loose and generally sloppy. Some more than others, and Mitchel Johnson makes me laugh, psychologists ideal study subject, most up and down form of any sportsman ever I think, even during the one game.

Indeed, dangerous when up.. but utterly hopeless when down.

Also, Hughes is just a dirty ****ing cheat.

The test series was a farce. Clearly we can't put a team together right now, the selectors were changing people left and right for every test. I'm sure many are asking what on earth has happened to cricket talent in this country? It seems like something has gone wrong at the grass roots level.
I know we can't expect a team like we had in the previous decade, that really was some truly amazing dominance.
Full credit to England though, they did the job well, and I guess finally for once the barmy army got their moneys worth coming all the way here. They were all over the place in Melbourne once they realised they had won the Ashes.

Don't worry, the conservative government will dry up sport funding again in this country so in 5 years we will be losing to Afghanistan [yawn]

We lost the Ashes, but the Barmy army had a great time! Far better than if they stayed in England...

Did you actually see the ball though? I've watched cricket for a long long time, seen Pakistan do all sorts of dodgy things, but I've never seen a ball like that 3rd ball in the final innings. What's got me stumped is how England didn't get a ball to look like that before, and the conditions weren't harsh on the ball (slight rain kept the outfield soft all test).

May have been from a dodgy batch of Kookaburra's.

This is true, it's far better to rub the Aussies noses in it right in their backyard.

God bless the Barmy Army, I'd like to say they are also ruining a few Australian lassies as we speak too, but we all know it's the other way round...
