Anyone had any experience of pod coffee makers? I was thinking of buying one because they make making coffee simple, and the one I had my eye own makes lots of different drinks (various types of coffee, hot chocolate and tea), but someone on another forum said pod coffee makers are crap.
Other options that was suggested are a cafetire, or a espresso maker, but I've never used either of those. Someone also suggested one of these Bearing in mind I'm the only one that drinks coffee here, so it would one mug at a time. |

I had the original "instant" style coffee systems, the Philips Senseo. It pretty much had things in mini teabags which the water went through. While they were ok, they are nothing compared to what is out now and I and everyone that comes round asks for one of my "special hot drinks" from my Tassimo. The quality and flavours are amazing and it is very hard to tell the difference between top grade traditional coffee makers.
Out of the range available, you really can't beat Tassimo! Might be out of your price range. |

I have two coffee "makers." One is an AeroPress and the other is a Bodum French Press. I use a Baratza Maestro Plus grinder.
I think it's very hard to beat an AeroPress for the price. It delivers a very smooth, strong coffee with zero acidity caused by over-extraction and very rich body comparable to a Clover machine. The paper filters are very dense and they eliminate almost all grounds in the cup so the coffee can sit for a long time without souring. The French Press delivers an oily, rich, extremely bold cup of coffee. You have to be careful about your grind and timing or you'll either get a pot of piss or a pot of torture. |

Might be out of your price range. I got this one ! This is the one I have, but I got it at half price from Argos. At present they have deals on their Tassimo systems, and most are at half price for a heads up [yes] |

*cough* ground *cough* :P in my opinion its like a drink.... you only get what you put in. put a drop of tanqueray with lidl tonic and it isnt going to taste good but your fancy beans through a £10 tesco boil in the bag job it isnt going to work so buy yourself a decent cafetiere and be done - as long as you have the time be damned with the £400 machines!! |

I moved from French Presses to 2 keurig's. One at home and one in my office. the reusable filter was the selling point for me. I have a great grinder but didn't want to be limited to what k-cups were sold, I've had the same beans in my press and in the Keurig, Keurig wins hands down. To me the Tassimo is like the Apple of the coffee world, you'll take it how we want you to. The Keurig with the filter gives me way more flexibilty. Love it. Now my press is only used for tea.
