Default LED Christmas lights...
I HATE THEM!

It's so hard to find incandescent lights anymore! Sure, they had issues, and you pretty much had to buy a new set every Christmas becuase too many bulbs would've died in storage that year. But they had character, a warm glow and looked great!

Now the shops (all of them) only stock these horrible cold, clear light LED lights. They are horrible. Whenever you see them switched on it's like having an Audi high-beam you with it's xenon globes!

They've apparently made "improvements" to make the LED light more "pure white" and less "blue"... but it's still a horrible, eyeball slicing light!

I've seen some of the "Warm White LED" variations around which look great, and are really close to the traditional tungsten lights, but they are so rare you'd have better odds stumbling accross a Toucan riding a Wooly Mammoth! But I finally found a set, after calling about 20 places nearby, and it was their LAST set left in stock. So I ordered with card on the phone so they would hold them for me. They said that apparently people are opting for the cool white LEDs more and more. What's wrong with people!?!?

Who here agrees/disagrees?

I totally agree, LED is nice at times and with certain colors but at least have an equal representation of classic CHRISTMAS lights!

Why would manufacturers continue to make incandescent lights? The mere possession of such lights will probably be an imprisonable offense in a few years.

The real problem is Christmas lights.

Things are a pain in the ass. Got a set of tube lights and strung those up years ago. Never take em down, don't even notice them during the rest of the year. No more climbing up and down the damn roof to put up some stupid bulbs for a few weeks.

Over here they look really nice. I like them. I just wish I could justify the expense.

Walmart and Kmart have stacks of the incandescent ones for about $1. Want me to send you some?

'Base, are these indoor lights - if so, totally agree with you! Perhaps it's possible to use a dimmer circuit on the LEDs to cut the glare a little?
Outdoor lights seem to be an American thing that is regretably another of their 'cultural' exports.

The white LEDs are too cool in color temperature. But the color ones are so nice! They actually emit the colors instead of relying on the colored bulbs and it's so much more intense.
