The real question, what would Charlie Brown do with unlimited power?

Kick the ****ing football
Nah, he'd realize the sheer pointlessness of the effort he's wasted over the years trying to kick the football. Then he'd do the one thing he's always needed omnipotence to be able to do: simply walk away from Lucy and the football.

Ummm...

Holy ****.

It was actually good. I mean, REALLY good. Not as good as the book, not by a long shot, but GOOD. Like three to three and a half out of four stars good.

There was lots of little changes (and a few big ones), some of them work, some of them don't, but the overall theme and plot structure are the same. Including the ending, thematically speaking at least.

I am really, really surprised.

It seems like its more Dark Knight than X-Men from the previews and all.

Yeah, different from all the previous comic book films. If I had to pick one it is closest to in tone, it'd have to be The Dark Knight.

Rorschach obviously stole the movie. The audience in my theater went apeshit every time he was onscreen. The Comedian was also a scene stealer.

Never read the book (actually just got it yesterday from Amazon), but just saw the movie. Very, very well done . I was skeptical about the length, but it didn't seem that long at all and they needed all that time to tell the story full, with the flashbacks and what not to build up the world.

I saw it, an enjoyed it. But Goddamn it was long. I knew halfway through that people who hadn't read the graphic novel would probably be annoyed and getting ready to leave.

But, very true(ish) to the comic.

Does that mean it was horrible and made little sense?
So, basically you were too stupid to get the comic?

If you don't like seeing a movie with people, Nikolai, rent the damn DVD.
It's normal manners to not disturb others watching the movie. Enoy it, laugh, but don't ruin the experience for other people who want to enjoy the movie by making lots of noise.

I hadn't read the graphic novel at all so I had no real expectations. I resisted the urge to look things up online so I was plesantly surprised. I hardly noticed the length at all (not Dr. Manhattan ) I loved the film and will probably buy the DVD when it comes out.

Roommate (a big comic books fan) went to see it. He went in with a strong knowledge of the book and feeling that the movie was going to be crap, because it deviated from the book too much.

He came out saying it was really rather decent. He also advised against me going to see it, because I would find it crap, given my complete lack of interest in superhero movies.

I am deferring to his wisdom on this one.

Saw it with my daughter recently when she was home on spring break. We're both big fans of the graphic novel. We both thought the film was...meh.

No question they captures teh look of the novel, sometimes clearly using comic frames as storyboard panels. But the thing seemed so damned determine to "get Watchmen right" that it sank under the leaden weight of its own reverence; it had way too little of the verve or the humor of its source material.

Oh, and the soundtrack was incredibly annoying, not only when it worked liek a sledgehammer (often) but even when it featured artists I really like (Dylan, Phillip Glass, Leonard Cohen).

The ending was changed for the better, though. I'll give them that. But I doubt I'll ever give the film another passing thought.

I'm pretty sure Dr. Manhattan was cut, actually. Just like any red-blooded American male.
