Well, I've talked about it long enough... and my fiancee finally knows where she's going to be doing her medical residency, so I could decide and start with my next "project."

First thing I thought of when they signed the title over to me was, "Damn, I wish I could tell Phil..." But Omid was the first to know in Phil's absence. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ilies/cry1.gif

She's a 2009 370Z in Magnetic Black w/ the sport package, and literally nothing else... She's not tagged or insured, but is currently on my cousin's flatbed on the way to his shop. [surrender]

When she re-emerges (hopefully before next summer!!!), she won't look anything like she does now...

On the list:
twin Turbonetics GT-K 550 ceramic-ball turbos
stroked and built up block
Tein internally-adjustable coilovers
Brembo GT 6-pistons up front and 4-pistons in the rear
the NISMO bodykit
Seibon CF on the hood, roof and trunk

custom upholstered interior to match the seats

nice car me and the woman are looking at getting a 370z aswel and trading in our altima coupe for one very nice vehicles

cept when we get one i wanna supercharge the beast, adds lots of power and more easy drive for everyday, but each thier own

I think if you put more water in the tank the rice will not burn as quickly. :p

I'm keeping my Altima Coupe for a daily driver... I'm in the process of modding my headlights, and might mod them into projectors. I've already got the fogs re-wired to use a spare set of the OEM HIDs I had laying around. Gonna do a bunch to it in the meantime. Actually need to change the oil before I come home to MD, since my ramps are down here @ my mom's in WV. [thumbdown]

My goal for the Z is gonna be in the neighborhood of 1Kwhp... http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ies/devil1.gif (Which is regularly attained by built VQ35s w/ twin turbos...) A supercharger can't make nearly that much. Also, I'm curious as to what they'd have to do to get one (supercharger) in the bonnet, cuz the engine compartment is even tighter than the 350, which had to have a custom hood that started cutting into the bottom of the driver's FOV! http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...es/unsure1.gif

well when if we get one it'll be the womans daily driver as she has a farther drive and my hemi gets bad gas milage, id be happy with 400-500 whp so a supercharger is def better for me, and u can just get it remotly mounted like a turbo one ie its a turbo but belt driven

and u own a altima coupe aswel, very nice, we have great taste

1.) How far is the stroking going to take the motor?

2.) Have a goal for X amount of PSI?



Now, concern. Don't know much about these new motors, but I have heard that they are rubbish basically. They are coarse, and have bad vibrations in the higher RPMs.

I would expect the engine work to improve the NVH, if anything, as the engine will be internally balanced and also the head flow/compressions to a higher standard than stock.

LM, it's going to be one hell of a beast, to say the least, so I would seriously recommend a full roll cage, strong race seat and a minimum of a four point, 3" harness as any 'mishap' is likely to happen with considerable speed and violence.
Plumbed in fire extinquisher and fuel cell would also be recommended.
It also means it'll be good for track days and the occasional play race.

Be nice to us, and keep us informed on the build - with lots of nice pictures!

The 370s I've taken out haven't been any "rougher" than the 350s I've driven, including the new 370 NISMO. The same engine is in the G37 Coupes, did they say the same thing about it as well? Or is it a matter of taste when it comes to ride quality? A Z isn't going to cushion your butt like a G is. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...es/tongue1.gif

I'm on it with the safety equipment... the seat I chose are designed for racing, and include the gear for 4-point harnesses. [thumbup]

Not sure what I'm going to go with as far as the roll-cage is concerned. My cousin builds everything from hotrods, to dragsters and even bog racers... so having him build a custom cage won't be a problem. I haven't seen cells available yet for the 370s, but it's on the short-list!

I haven't decided on the block builder to do the work either. SFR is a likely candidate, but there are lots of other VQ3x builders out there. I'm definitely getting it Darton sleeved. Most people had the VQ35s out to 4.1-4.2 for large TT applications, so I'll likely stick to what the builders already know... There are quite a few TT Zs putting down 1200+whp w/ the 4.2 under the hood. The goal is to keep the boost between 20-24, but the block will be built to handle out past 30 if need be.

Today I found a shop to do the upholstery... The seats will be in a black leather with Recaro's suede dyed to match the HoK paint on the exterior. The rest of the interior will be a coordination of black leather, the dyed suede and dry carbon fiber. I'm partial to MOMO harnesses, shift knobs and pedals...

I would prefer to go with a Kenwood 7" DVD/GPS head unit, but the rest I am impartial about... as long as it sounds GOOD. I'll go with an Escort 9500ci for radar/laser, which includes zr4 shifters... maybe by the time we're ready for that they'll have integrated beltronics' STI tech into a newer model that has the built-in GPS. I'll also have a Wilson Communication wireless 3G cellular relay/booster. Motorola digital scanner and radio are likely inclusions as well.

For security I'll go with a Viper 2-way with remote-start. I was originally planning on ditching my iPhone when the BB Bold 9700 is released, but between the Wyse thin-client app and Viper app, I may keep it around!

Got a beltronics STI XR detector - works well, but, as you say, no provision for fixed sites to be added - mate's got a much cheaper Escort with it built in. [cursing]
If you're looking at a nice ICE setup, will you be looking at options to keep the exhaust noise under control? Loud exhausts, IMO, are fun for a limited time then get to be a pain - and what we call "Cop-Callers"! They call out to any Cops in the area to investigate where the noise is coming from!

Anyway, think you made a mistake in the title - seems to be more VaVaVrooom [thumbup]

I've got the STI Driver currently, which is the exact same thing aside from the name as the STI XR. I'm hoping that Greddy will come out with something like the Spectrum Elite for F/I apps, cuz it sounds so damn sexy! If not, it'll probably be a Borla, Tanabe or Artisan exhaust... quiet down low, but roars when it needs to! [thumbup]

I haven't had SFR work on my car, but I have bought almost everything they offer for mine and have talked to them on the phone several times. Service has been nothing but exceptional!

A centrifugal supercharger then.

Turbos are typically more efficient.

i understand they are more efficient, but the daily drivabilty on 400+ whp will be much better on a supercharger than a turbo setup

I got S14 200sx myself and have been bulding it little by little. (301HP/455Nm this summer)

Getting to high power levels will take me forever...

Empty wallet hurts the whole project...
