Like stated before, a failure means it failed. –verb (used without object) 1. to fall short of success or achievement in something expected, attempted, desired, or approved: The experiment failed because of poor planning. 2. to receive less than the passing grade or mark in an examination, class, or course of study: He failed in history. 3. to be or become deficient or lacking; be insufficient or absent; fall short: Our supplies failed. 4. to dwindle, pass, or die away: The flowers failed for lack of rain. 5. to lose strength or vigor; become weak: His health failed after the operation. 6. to become unable to meet or pay debts or business obligations; become insolvent or bankrupt. 7. (of a building member, structure, machine part, etc.) to break, bend, crush, or be otherwise destroyed or made useless because of an excessive load. 8. to stop functioning or operating: The electricity failed during the storm. Looks like he personally meets the requirements of #3 and #5 quite handily, his music is undeniably category #1 and #2, and in about a year you can be sure his career will meet the requirement for #4 |

That wasn't a failure, lot's of people had one!
Half of this thread has what I'd consider "fads" not failures [thumbdown] |

The Saturn was a failure, the Dreamcast, not so much. Failure implies something was inherently wrong with the product, where in this case nothing was wrong with the Dreamcast and as a matter of fact, the DC was a technological marvel, given it's built in 56k modem for online play and VGA adapter for crisp play on monitors. It's demise was attributed to the PS2 "Hype Machine" and their marketing blitz. There were few games, if any, initially that were technologically superior to their DC counterparts. Look at Shenmue... I didn't think the Dreamcast did that bad, at least in its first year or two. I know you have to account for game sales as well (or perhaps more specifically), but they sold what, like 10 million consoles? Unfortunately I don't know the splits by country or how much money they were making / losing on each and overall but I do remember a lot of buzz about sales figures during its launch. The Dreamcast did fail in terms of its short lifespan and I think also gets a lot of negative press for being the last console to precede the downfall of Sega as a console manufacturer. I think you can consider it a failure in those ways, and that's despite the fact that I enjoyed the games I had on the console. |

people still use icq and some of these so called failues made alot of money :S ![]() Anyways, i liked Crystal Pepsi, had a Jaguar (o.k, merely because of Alien vs Predator), i owned a pair of Reebok pumps (they rocked), had a Hypercolor shirt (still do, it doesn´t change colors anymore though and is now a mere "sleeping shirt" and anyone who calls the Dreamcast a failure should be ashamed to call themselves a gamer. |
