Am I the only one who finds Google extremely annoying?

Seriously, it is way too snappy and the drop down menu is even more annoying as I am in the process of typing my search phrase.

I think they're going too far with this ajax thing.

I say bring classic google back!

Doesn't help me much. Needs to be on the index page then I will be a happy man!

Allbrunette 09-09-2010 10:04 AM

It's center justified....is there a way to put it back on the left?

Make your own html document with an iframe anchored on the left?

Meh, I quite like it. The quick search drop down menu speeds up my searches considerably and I barely notice the ajax stuff as all I'm concerned about is searching.

TBH, I'd be worried about Google and HTML5, have you seen what they have started doing?

Just another way to collect personal information IMHO

Totally, I'm all for year 2000 Google.com http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/cool1.gif

Dial-up & crappy computer friendly!

Pyuvjzwf 09-09-2010 11:05 AM

LOL.

After you search, look by the search bar to the right...there's an option to turn OFF instant. Takes it back to how it was.

Me thinks that you barely understand AJAX. :)

The new 'instant' thing? Yeah it's bothering me. It's really unnecessary if you ask me I've no need to see the result until I'm done typing. It feels kind of cluttered in a way. I was trying to show it to my wife earlier, used pearl colored paint as an example. If you are lucky you get, Petsmart, Pearson, Pearl Harbor, pearl couscous, pearl color, pearl colored shoes before you get pearl colored paint. How does that help me?

What I want is a list of my previous search results by default. I don't want to change it half-ass from the true classic Google every time I use another computer or browser.

No onion can demerit my rant!

You can turn it off if you'd like. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/wink1.gif

I like it, I use google ssl too http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/cool1.gif

This "turn it off" stuff annoys me, that would be a great option if you didn't have your browser run clean each time it starts.

Am I the only who never goes to google's page? What do you think the Google search bar on FF is for?

Same here, I just type straight into the Chrome address bar

viepedorlella 09-09-2010 07:51 PM

I like the suggestions a lot. It's one of the best features that Google have created recently.

It gives you the most popular searches so you can be sure they will give you the most relevant results. Otherwise if you get the wording wrong slightly your hit rate will suffer, and you wouldn't know how best to reword it.

Although I do think Google might be running out of genuinely innovative ideas now, so they're starting bolting on stuff that's further down the priority list that may not be so useful, like changing background images.

I did wonder what all the fuss was about. I never use the main page. No point to it at all when there's a Google search box sat there already.

And hasn't the Google search box in FF done this drop down thing for ages already?

We've noticed.

Another vote for browser based search box (Chrome and IE at home and work respectively).
