Default some more top gear usa footage...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CxOnRnt99Es

To be honest, it's starting to look better. They didn't do themselves any favours with the standard cheesy as hell American trailer the first time.

Ive not seen so many video effects in my entire life, i know Top Gear in the UK uses them a lot but it seems they are going WAYYYYY overboard.

Their accents still annoy me however, it just doesnt suit the show (they all seem really generic as well)

UK TG all the way!

Well, it's nicely filmed like the UK one I suppose, but I don't think the presenters are as interesting when it comes to having some personality. Certainly looks watchable though.

They don't really seem to have much individuality. I shall reserve judgement.

Bad acting, lacks the humor of the UK original and the presenters look like they're hosting their own youtube channel not a national TV show.

Not impressed to be honest.

Actually the effects are no more than what TG UK uses (take a look at the Lexas LFA review they did for an example of too much).

Another example would be the Mercedes black edition review I think.

This lessens my apprehension for TG USA and gives me a nugget of hope that there might be a good show buried in there. I will ofcourse watch the first season to see if its any good.

You're seriously judging a program based on some out of context promotional footage?

EDIT: all new presenters take time to grow into their roles. Go check out some of the early Top Gear series (the new Top Gear I mean).

Yeah, the hosts looked like "just some dudes". I didn't watch Top Gear UK just for the cars, I ended most episodes with a sideache from laughing so hard... and I don't see that here.

looks ok. I guess everyone needs time time to settle in. Top Gear UK took a while to get where it is now, and honestly Top Gear UK has gone a little down hill. So Top Gear USA just might make things a little fresher even though it wont match Top Gear UK at its best.

Definitely more promising than the first trailer we saw.

The presenters still look like they're forcing everything, though. Hopefully in time they'll develop their own personalities instead of simply imitating the UK presenters' catchphrases.

Top Gear USA will never get on anywhere near the same level as the original top gear. It's a copy of the original and badly presented.

I do agree the real top gear has gone downhill over the years though.

The Lexus LFA review is a art puff piece.

Watch the 458 Italia review or most of the other reviews.

I've seen EVERY episode since the very first season.

The effects used in the promo lambo piece are no more or less than can be found in other top gear episodes. I quoted the LFA review because it stands as an example of them letting the effects dept run wild.

I will watch the first season to see if its worth it.

Everything in this new video sounds so forced and scripted. It so clear that it's not the hosts actual critique but something some writer wrote.

Something which is completely unlike May, Clarkson or Hammond who excel in their knowledge of cars and provide compelling and heartfelt critique.

C'mon. You really think Top Gear isn't scripted?

So what. The american version is a soulless piece of ****.

It feels so manufactured compared to the UK one.

Anyway, no one would expect the 3 idiots hosting the american version to have even quarter of the wit, intelligence and humour that either May, Clarkson and Hammond have.

So since you can't argue the point you initially tried you are going to attack a different point.

Nice.

You should re-watch Top Gear season 1 of the new series, the one before May came onboard. It was pretty bad too.

I'm not saying its going to be great, in fact I doubt I'll enjoy it as much as TG UK but I'm going to give it a chance.

Yep it was pretty crap, it's also funny seeing the empty studio with a couple of middle aged WRX owner's as the audience

I honestly think James May is the key too Top Gear's success, sure Richard and Jeremy are important, but James May added something to the show that just wasn't their before.

Yes I know but UK Top Gear started out without any base, as a compeletely new concept.

It's obvious that TG is scripted but it quite clear in the american version that the presenters dont know **** about cars.

TG UK is a different story, you see that in Hammond's May's and Clarkson's newspaper articles and books.
