Default prog-house headphones
What headphones are best for some seriously rude basslines on progressive house cd's?

Honestly, the one I am listening to now (northern exposure 2 from digweed and sasha) is so low it's making me want to poo. Sadly, it's making people in other offices want to kill me.

dunno about being the best but i have some sennheiser CX500's and they kick out a fair bit of bass and they fit right into the canal so dont give out too much noise and are 'noise-isolating' so will filter out some of your co-workers moans.

The Beats have terrible build & sound quality.

Danger, if you have the budget then without a doubt its the Denon D7000's or even the D5000's. They are simply bass monsters.

What sort of hit am I talking about? I will be leaving them at work so they won't be likely to get damaged. My gym / mtb ones seem to break every few months.

LOL - nah, our place is safe and they'll be locked in a drawer overnight.

I fail at detecting sarcasm. [surrender]

The D7000 is around £700-£750 and the D5000 is around £380-£400 mark. They are in proper audiophile territory and come with all the prerequistes of having a proper source and amp to drive them. Not something you want to leave at work

By comparison, the Sony MDR-V700DJ headphones are a more affordable $100.

I will have to say Mr. Moose, based on appearance, you listening to House is about as obvious as Steve listening to Godsmack.

You probably don't want open air headphones if people are complaining about the noise from whatever headphones you have now, so that writes off all the top shelf 'phones. Sennheiser 280's are nice though, used to use them for work before I got a pair of 650s and the sound was really good - for the price- . Shouldn't cost more than 100-120 USD either. And they're closed so no one a reasonable distance away will hear a thing.

random tidbit for anyone who doesn't care about their coworkers (or who are lucky enough to have coworkers who don't care): US amazon has HD 650's for $420. (230$ off the msrp) [thumbup]

LOL. Seriously? I've been clubbing since you were reading cheap books on half-baked acidic sarcasm.
