Default CREATION OF A TCG/CCG
This is going to be put off until breaks, because I am not going to get anything done because of homework.

I am creating a TCG/CCG, whatever you want to call it, and i need some assistance. I will have a list of Yu-Gi-Oh! forums members who are participating in helping me, along with what they will be doing. I will also have a list of what i currently need for the game. so here goes.

I apologize, but i have to make a new game. my game, i found out (after like 2 or 3 days in total hours spent), is exactly like the WOW tcg. i have already thought of a new game, and i need your feedback.

Members: (Please PM me if you are participating, but are not on the list)
1. Um... Do what it says up top. I am tired and don't feel like hunting down everybody. if you see somebody that has previously participated in this thread, but has not responded, shoot me a pm saying so.
put a reverse smily face (: into your post if you have read this first post.

Things The Game Needs:

I am going to ask that you copy this into your post if you want to participate, and put your name into the next open space with what you would like to do after it. I will send you a PM, and then post a new version of the list without your name. your screen name will then be put into the Screen Name list. I will put my screen name down as an example. if there are not enough lines, ADD SOME (:

ALL MEMBERS PARTICIPATING, PM ME ABOUT WHAT YOU ARE DOING FOR THIS GAME

Start the copy after this line
1: Dark Necros - Creator - Idea Guy - Owner of the Game - Almost Everything Else
2: SawronZXZ - Not sure. too lazy to find it
3: Steven Stiffler - Not sure. too lazy to find it
4: Heilos Star - Not sure. too lazy to find it
5: M i s f o r t u n e - Not sure. too lazy to find it
6:
7:
8:
9:
10:
End Copy before this line

Also, if i don't update for a month, somebody post and say that they will pm me. i have probably gotten caught up in stuff, and forgotten to post, because i am an absent minded idiot xP

The easiest thing to do would be to get in contact with a publishing company, just google Publishers and you'll see a few that might be willing to publish a card game. Companies like Wizard of the Coast would be a good shot too, Konami on the other hand publish their own stuff.

Are ya gonna tellus about the game, I always love to learn a new game.

Anyways, here's my advice:
1. Take it from the inside:
If you get a job there, you would one day find yourself with the power and authority to make such a game, as longas you work well, and are motivated enough.
2. Blow them away!:
Show em' what you're made of, it's a long shot, but you know, try all you can. Show them how great your game is, and give them much reason why to chooses this game and not to create a new generation of that apthetic game called Bakugan.
3. Do it alone:
Well, not quite alone, but basically, create the game by yourself, and make it rise to fame by yourself, this is obviously the most stupid option, you would probably kill all of the trees for nothing. TREES SACRIFICE THEIR LIVES, FOR A PURPOSE, TO BRING US YU-GI-OH. THIS IS THE ONLY WORTHY DEATH FOR A TREE, TO CREATE YU-GI-OH!

i would show you, but there is always somebody willing to rip off a game. i have a lot done up, and i wouldnt want to lose it all. when it's licensed, copyrighted, patented, and everything else, you will be the first people to know, other than my friends at school.

alright, i have decided to post some information.

there are 5 races: Human, Elf, Dwarf, Beast, and Spirit.

each race has several different classes that the cards can be in (E.G. humans have alchemists, and warriors among a couple other types)

each race has several qualities that define the cards. elves are fairly peaceful, but devastating when angry. they are very advanced compared to humans and dwarves.

Also, i am going to be writing a story to go along with the first few sets. i think that it will help me get ideas for cards. i will post the story under the name DOC (Destruction of Chaos)

if you are willing to help me, i will pm you my email. i am hoping that i can trust you enough to keep my privacy, and not post it all over the internet. i REALLY don't want my email compromised by spam.

First of all, how old are you? Just wondering, as the scope of such a project would be enormous.

Anyways, if you're looking for a publisher, there are a few things you should know.

  1. Ideas aren't enough. For a company to back your product, you're going to need to present them with a complete product. If you're just in the idea stages, or if you do not have a completely polished, fully featured product to show potential sponsors, they're going to skip right over it. Companies are looking for something profitable and unique to get behind, and ideas are cheap and common.

  2. Who are you marketing towards. Is your game going to be marketed primarily towards children? Young adults? You're going to need to know all this, as well as figures and facts towards your target market. Just saying that kids will love it won't work, you're going to have to prove it with a lot of market research. Investors need research to prove to them that their money is going into a worthy cause.

  3. You need to put forth more effort into this than anything in your life. This is true for any startup or product. To bring your card game to life, you're going to need to pull all the stops, invest a lot of your own money, and painstakingly work day and night to bring everything together. You're going to fail a lot, succeed very very little, but the only way you're going to get through this is by giving this everything you've got and then some.

I could probably list a dozen more points, go into even more detail, and proofread this a bit more; but time is a precious resource. I'm sorry if I sound like a downer; but truthfully and realistically you're going to need to sacrifice a lot to start something like this up. It's an incredible learning experience, but don't get discouraged if you fail. Just pick yourself up again, take in the critique, and further polish what you've got.

But as a simple answer: if you look at who your game is marketed towards, you should be able to figure out what kind of companies to present your card game to. Formally set up a meeting, and go from there.

alright, i will pm you my age, just because i am so paranoid XP and i am willing to go through more trouble than i have ever gone through in my entire life. i already have some ideas, and i have created a simple outline for a book. i think that it will help me to develop abilities, and attitudes for my characters. it will aslo give me ideas for cards and stuff. i have a rating system set up. i have an idea for how to get cards onto the field, kinda like mana from magic, but not really. you start with like 15 creature points, and every turn, you spend according to the cards you play. you also gain a certain amount every turn, and depending on the cards you have, it will be different amounts. i have about 50 or 60 cards already planned out. i am not going to pin rarities to them until i finish the standards that each of the cards will be held to. i am hoping to get about 350 cards finished by the end of summer, or even next year. i have the number of cards that will go into the core set (that includes the number of cards for each of the types) and i have the number of cards for each of the branch sets (including the different types)

i am probably just rambling on, but i have more planned out than most people think i do. i just don't release it. i think i said this before, but there will always be somebody willing to rip off a good game.

to whom my game is marketed towards, i have yet to figure out. i am thinking that i want it to be towards anybody old and mature enough t play the game correctly. kids will always buy cards, and i am thinking that will be my main source of business, but it isnt aimed towards them.

I could make so much good card and board games with all my ideas but the truth is that no one will publish it or become popular beacause 90% of people like simple games wich envolve only luck and i don't like that .

Personally, I would reinvent your concept before trying to publish your game. From the brief description you gave, it can tell that your game is highly cliche as-is. If you want to actually score a contract, then you'll need to make something more unique. The standard western-fantasy loadout won't cut it. Between Magic and WoW's TCG, and even a little bit of Yugioh, it's been done already. Try exploring a range of options that, while remaining familiar to it's audience, still has a fresh, yet tasteful style to it.

Good luck failing. There's a reason why there are only like 3 popular card games.

there are several games that i know of, and three that i play. one that is quickly rising to join the ranks is called chaotic. it has an extremely unique concept, and will probably never be copied. the reason that i have made this game the way that it is, is because i have never made another game before, and it will take a little while to figure out a game concept that will work. if i figure it out before i publish this one, i will recreate this one to fit the new idea. and cupid, if you contribute to the ideas, you may be on the team. this means looking over all my stuff, revising the rules, and anything else i ask you to do.

i have completely restructured my game. i don't think any other game is anything like it. i haven't made the entire rulebook yet, but when i do, i will pm it to people that want to help me with my game. i think it is fairly balanced, and i think it is going to be pretty cool.
