I think the main problem is the contract to keep it exclusive to AT&T though..? 4 generations in and Apple haven't designed a phone that fully supports the US's 2nd biggest GSM provider (T-Mobile) and there is absolutely no sign of a worldwide CDMA iPhone and that is a lot of customers Apple are missing out on.. http://www.cdg.org/worldwide/index.asp North America: 160 million + South America: 30 million + Europe, Russia and A&ME: 40 million + Asia Pacific: 286 million + If Apple were interested in releasing a CDMA iPhone, I'd have thought they would have worldwide considering the amount of countries using the tech regardless of the US. |

Yeah, but why didn't they all use the same system when they first built their networks? You can choose between CDMA or GSM - I believe both have better performance in differenct circumstances, but google it yourself instead of asking stupid questions. |

Yeah, but why didn't they all use the same system when they first built their networks? On the grand scheme of things, the iPhone is of little importance to force everyone to drop CDMA. Samsung are due to succesfully release the Galaxy S on all 4 of the major US networks (already has on some) so Apple could do it. |

To expand on what idchoppers posted earlier, do you understand the networks in the US Bungle? It's like when electricity was introduced in the UK a coupleof hundred years ago and every company used a different voltage. |

For God's sake Bungle. Use a little loaf will you? The USA is large enough to support multiple different standards. It's like buying a PC or a mac. I imagine each provider thought they had chosen the better system and enough people bought into each to warrant keeping them both. I still think it's silly they don't all use the same technology. |

Lazerbase is right about you isn't he. The conversation with you goes like this: person: this is how it is bungle: why person: because of this bungle: why person: it just is bungle: why person: here are some more reasons bungle: why It's like dealing with a three year old. |

Lazerbase is a seriously comprehensive moron. Stop asking stupid questions and just google it (although I know it's fun for a while as I used to it and watch mutelight bite every single time). person: Why is X so? dangermoose: You ****ing stupid idiot! Why don't you know that? You must be an idiot! It's not a "stupid" question. It's a perfectly legitimate one. I really don't know what your problem is. I still don't understand why. They have same TV standard across America (despite different ones being available), I don't see why it should by any different for mobile phones. I have Googled it btw and it didn't shed any more light on the matter. It's like dealing with a three year old. I know how you feel... |

dangermoose: You ****ing stupid idiot! Why don't you know that? You must be an idiot! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I don't think you're an idiot for not knowing that. I think you're just not using any common sense continually asking on here when you could have tried to find out from a place that would know. |

God, I'm turning into mutelight I think you're just not using any common sense continually asking on here when you could have tried to find out from a place that would know. I am trying to find out from a place that would know - a community of tech people, some of whom actually reside in the US. |

I still think it's silly they don't all use the same technology. When technology is in it infantile state, there are no standards. Most of these companies got investors and starting building networks fly-by-wire. There are advantages and disadvantages to being early adopters of technology, you see. Or, maybe you are just smarter than everyone else. |
