Congrats Xeo!! You do realize you won't be sleeping for awhile now, right? (9 mo old boy at home) People say it gets easier, but I'm still waiting!
TBH it gets worse.. [rofl][yes]
Now that he/she starts to move you have to constantly watch after him/her.

Yeah you get to sleep but now your free time is totally lost... http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ies/laugh1.gif

Yeah, he's pretty mobile now. I wanted to tie something heavy to him so he can't go far, but the wife didn't like that idea.

It will, but dont listen to other parents about their baby and how well it sleeps. They are all lying and have the exact sleeping problems as everyone else.
That's kind of a silly thing to say. Every baby is different. One will cut its first teeth at 6 months and another still won't have any at 1 year old. Some families even find they'll have one baby that sleep like a log and the next one they have no end of trouble with.

Meant more about how parents tend to mention the good things while they forget the bad things. Thus making a brand new father and mom feel as if they alone have long crying nights and such.

So not so much lying as selective memory.

I have to admit the first nights (months) were the worst in that we didn't realize how early we should be putting him to bed so we'd be up until 9 or 10 with this screaming baby who we could distract or settle down. It drove me crazy.

Yeah man, I remember my co-worker talking about crib death syndrome and for weeks I didn't hardly sleep and kept disturbing my son to feel if he was breathing and so on.

Xeo congrats - are you married already?

So what are you going to teach him first? Sports or C++?

Thanks guys! You all know the first thing I'm going to teach my son. I can tell you the second thing I'm going to teach him, which is to love others as himself.

Well the first few days my boy would wake up every hour or less, crying without stopping. But shortly after when Mommies milk came, he's been sleeping a lot and now wakes up every 3 hours on average. Dave is exclusively breast fed. Big advantage of that is he doesn't become overweight, burps only once or less per day, his poop smells good, we save tons of money, and baby bonds amazingly w/ his mom.

He sleeps with us in bed and mommy stays home all day. He's definitely not a cry baby. I feel the more love I give him, the less he cries... but I'm refereeing to my baby, not another.

Lol, the wife and I are on our second year of marriage http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/wink1.gif

First thing I do when he cries is I tell him that I love him and open up my heart to him. The more he cries, the more I love him.

It was hard at first forcing myself to constantly be gentle and hold him tons, but now it's second nature for me.

People always said that when you have a child, your entire life will change. I understood, but didn't truly know what to expect until he was born. I've decided to get a lower class job and go back to college to better support my child and family.

I had the choice to get a much better salary job right now and work full-time, but instead I'm thinking about my future and not present status. After I get my degree, I can get a manager position way above what I could without and within the same company I'm employed with right now.

It's actually awesome because the military is paying for my room and board along with 100% college while I work part time. And yes, I am no longer working for the military. Although right now I'm working for a government agency http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/wink1.gif

The bible says "he that finds a wife finds a good thing". I too just passed my second anniversary and my son is reaching 16 months this week.

Good luck, I wish you the best (with the job/education and the family of course). It truly is a life changing experience to have a child. Some changes suck (no "me" time anymore), but most are rewarding. The good definitely outweighs the bad. My outlook on life really changed when my son was born. Everything is for him now (until his freeloading ass can get a job http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/wink1.gif).

It's awesome, I agree. The wife and I have already hit one of the biggest challenges during our first year of marriage and boy I'm glad that it's over and we've learned from it. We were talking earlier tonight and even though having a child is a huge challenge, we're completely thankful that we were able to have a child. I know there are many couples who find it rather difficult to start a family of their own or simply cannot.

I learned this one quick. I gave up almost all my hobbies except a couple, and no longer spend countless hours doing what I want, when I want, and how I want. To be frank, I went from spending hours each day doing what I want to minutes /happy sad face

I agree with you though, your child does come first. That and it's a different feeling just being able to hold your own child and know he's healthy as appose to playing countless hours on battlefield and watching blu-ray movies all day lol.

Xeo, try to find a book by Ellen G. White called "The Adventist Home". My self being of the adventist belief found alot of things in that book to help me on running my household with God at the center.
