Micron,
If your bullet is 220grains and the rifle is putting out 5000ft/lbs then the calculation on this site (http://www.pyramydair.com/site/articles/formulas/) means that the bullet is going at mach 3/2285mph/3350fps

Is this right?
Close... right around 3150fps [thumbup]

I actually have a chronometer that dumps to my computer when working up handloads... Kinda funny with the 300RUM, cuz it knocks it over every shot from the muzzle blast on the local sensor!

I can't remember the last air rifle that would break your shoulder if you didn't hold it right!

The owner of Tactical Operations in California thinks I'm a masochist, due to the (lack of) weight of my first .300RUM and my smaller stature!

I think the issue could be that the animal is going to be left. Left in its burrow to die. You kind of want the power of a 22LR for instant killing rather than your animal limping off to die somewhere.
trust me, I know my Kill zone,Ive only ever had one rabbit run off, but I got him again with the second shot.

sometimes, you get a dodgy pellet, that cant be helped.
