Yeah. At least now Droid X users can get rid of all the crap loaded on to it.
I wonder if I "hybrid" ROM could be made? Something that still contains the official signature so Efuse accepts it but at the same time is entirely custom?

I have no clue about developing ROM's for this just thinking out loud.

I don´t see the problem,
If the manufacturer clearly states that it´s prohibited to mod their product
Do we own anything these days? When I buy something, I prefer to own it, and have the ability to do whatever I want with it.

i don´t see why they shouldn´t setup some kind of security to actually reinforce their policy.
Don´t like it, don´t buy it
How about "You buy this phone, but we still own it"?

Ok its been rooted... Doesn't mean you can load custom roms on it. Efuse will still block it. But its a step in the right direction.
Indeed, it is great to hear that they are getting closer. There are a ton of very smart individuals out there that will hopefully figure out a way to circumvent the efuse.

IIRC, the update package is signed by Moto. A custom rom dev couldn't possibly sign their update with the same key as Moto.

If the eFuse is indeed looking for this signature (like the Droid Milestone did I think) then it may well be impossible.

Depending on what all trips this thing, assuming it's turned on, they might have to provide free warranty work and parts for requiring only their services and parts.
