Picture Framing
So, moved into a big new place and was looking at getting some preferably inexpensive pictures & artwork to hang up in the place. I found Allposters.com which has some nice prints which aren't too expensive, but to get them to framed & matted there is awfully pricey, at least for what I'm looking to spend. Was wondering if anyone here ever used another website or store for this kind of thing? Or if this is going to be somewhat expensive no matter where I go. Thanks in advance.

Sadly,if you want it done passably well and don't feel like doing it yourself it will probably cost a bit.
I would look around locally and see what I could find if I were you, should be able to find something that will be decent enough and doesn't cost too much. |
Yeah, I've had other people suggest to me to check out local stores (not chains like Michael's though, because they'll also charge you an arm and a leg if they do it.) I don't mind trying to do it myself, as I heard you can get a frame that's a bit larger than what you're framing, and some places are pretty cheap to cut you a windowed mat for the border, so I think I'm going to keep my eye out.

Yeh, if the frame is larger just get some white / black card to border it. You'll need to stick a poster to the backing board with display mount (make sure it is display mount and not spray mount - the latter only lasts a few days) to avoid any creasing.
EDIT: Buy some bits of wood and glue them together yourself? |

Yellow pages or online search in your area - that way you can talk to the guys/gals, see if they seem to be up to the jobs, sort out exactly what you want and negotiate a discount.

Lol, i had to click this thread because my computer store shares a building with a framing store. Come to WI and I'm sure you could get it done cheap http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...es/tongue1.gif

Don't go to Hobby Lobby whatever you do. They are ****ing awful. The guy was unable to do a decent job of framing them in the first place and the wood in the frames themselves have warped due to the weight of... the frame.
