Depends on who you are hanging out with. If it's regular working class types, then every third word in a sentence should be "tabarnac" "colis" or "****".

Other than that the only French you need is:

"donnez moi un bierre si vous plais"

and

"ou est la toilette?"

My condolences on having to visit Montreal.
