Choose Your Freedoms..

Here's one for Gnius. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/wink1.gif

The BBC reported that Nick Clegg, deputy PM in the UK, has launched a website called: Your Freedom. He's invited the people of the UK to record, via the site, any ideas they have on reducing bureaucracy, which laws they consider a breach of their civil liberties and so on. The results will be released via the Freedom Bill sometime this Autumn. This is meant to be the pre-cursor to the biggest reform of UK law for almost two hundred years.

I'm not really sure what to make of it right now, the proof will be in the pudding i think, but as it stands and what we know of it right now, it could only be a good thing? Right? http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...es/unsure1.gif

In the city of York, it is still legal to murder a Scotsman within the ancient city walls, but only if he is carrying a bow and arrow.

A small tweak to this much loved law is clearly required. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...es/tongue1.gif

Bureaucrats reforming bureaucracy this should work well.

Century of the Self made pretty clear why focus groups were a bad idea. This is just taking a bad idea and making it bigger.

The site appears to be experiencing technical difficulties. [rofl]

It also appears to be twitter related somehow, since the error page i was served up came from them, it even said:

The discussion topic 'Repealing unnecessary laws' is getting more traffic & hence is slower. Currently other 2 themes are live. Logins are now back. The volume of traffic is still extremely high however so slow page load times are probable. 2 hours ago The unprecedented level of traffic has forced us to switch off logging in to protect page serving. Please check back for updates 3 hours ago It's probably everyone calling for all politicians to be considered outlaws.

It seems like one of the biggest topics is the Digital Economy Act, the TV news over here have been curiously quiet on this though, as if they are trying not to bring attention of the problem to the masses.

Sorry for editing the quote.

Yea i find that strange also, this is huge news, reforms like this only happens every couple of hundred years, you'd think it would be splashed all over, but i'm hardly hearing anyone talk about it.

It's almost like no one gives flying ****. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ies/wacko1.gif
