Default A Nightmare on Elm St 2010
I seen this tonight and I think it was pretty damn good, especially the atmosphere and how they did the dream sequences was pretty kick ass.

Acting was nothing to praise but this guy was awesome as Freddy. A very dark, creepy and sadistic Freddy. [thumbup]

I was in high school when the original came out

This is darker, evil and has some wicked dream scenes. I think it's a great homage to the original.

Yeah I was planning to overlook it since it has a new Freddy. Really couldn't get myself to like that idea but if you say it's good maybe I'll give it a shot....

When the originals came out I was like 7 years old and my mom let me watch them all. Scarred me for life

I genuinely wanted to see the remake. Big fan of Freddy films, and will give the new freddy a chance.

A lot of people who I know who seen it, are claiming that the new guy is really really ****ing evil. Saying its much darker than the orginals.

I quite like the idea, Freddy became more a comedy act, which while the old formula worked, atleast for the first few films worked well, a more dark sadistic freddy would work better than simply trying to replicate that "comedy".

I really, really wanted to like this. I've seen all the Freddy movies, enjoyed most of them(even though I know they are 'bad'), and was very excited to see this. I ignored all the negative reviews and thought the trailers looked very promising.

Unfortunately, the film sucked. Totally sucked balls, in fact. Terrible acting from everyone but Jackie Earle Haley(Freddy), terrible plotline, terrible, cheesy dialog, overly clean, hollywoodized cinematography, lame backstory with nonsensical plot points, really poor use of CGI... I could go on and on... But the worst fault of the film, is it wasn't scary in the slightest!

Jackie was good, and the opening scene was good, but other than that there wasn't a single redeeming point in this film. 3/10.

That's insightful.

There appears to be three types of films being made in the US, two large groups, and one small.

Group 1
1. PG/PG-13 moneymakers. This is where everything is headed. Just a hint of boob, and a "fudge" here-and-there. Oodles of bloodless movie violence.
2. R-rated torture porn. Most new slashers, Saw, Hostel, Turistas. In short - naked white girls (with occasional uber-americana asians) being tortured to death by deranged lunatics/monsters/ghosts/etc...
Group 2
3. Art films - romanceless romance, unerotic sex, endless nihilism, and some more torture porn (see: Human Centipede).

Our culture is sick.

Funnily enough, NOEM is really none of those [rofl]. It's not PG13, it's R-rated. Yet it has no nudity, and really isn't very gory. Still sucked though.

Also, if you think that's all that's out there for films nowadays, you're watching the wrong films.

Was anyone really expecting some oscar worthy acting in a horror flick?

The plot is the same as the original, only modernized (cell phones, computers etc...) but I watched this movie expecting it to be bad and it was better than I hoped.

Worth watching I think, but don't expect it to be the Dark Knight of Horror remakes.

Well, no, I wasn't expecting oscar worthy acting. I was, however, expecting the film to be good. It wasn't.

I can name a ton of better horror movies in the last couple years.. Let the Right One In, Rec, The Descent, The Mist, Trick R' Treat, Drag Me to Hell, The Orphanage, etc.. etc..

Point is, there's tons of horror movies out there with great acting and writing.
