When it is executed by a little girl, it changes the scene a bit.
I haven't seen Rambo 4 either, but I've heard that the violence is not very realistic in those movies (I've only seen First Blood).

Kick-Ass is presenting the setting like it could really happen and the guys to be killed
are thought of as real people instead of just random thugs.

I think its horrible, ending someones life like in the movies and often seemingly enjoying it.
By a little girl. I felt really bad every time someone was killed in the movie.
Grow a pair man...it's a movie. Why would I not enjoy watching people getting shot in movies? Who cares who is doing the shooting.

I gotta say I didn't really enjoy it either, left me thinking....umm....ok.

I didn't like the violence, they made it realistic to begin with but then went off the scale with lunacy and violence. It was overly predictable and idiotic at the end which just ruined everything it had built up to.

The movie didn't seem to know what it was, it was trying to be so many things and in the end it was...nothing special.

It was mildly entertaining but like cortez I found the violence to be in poor taste and just left me feeling uncomfortable.

Just came to me, the movie seemed to be trying so hard to not be a typical cliche superhero movie, but then became a ridiculous cliche superhero movie. I don't know it just didn't gel with me.

yeah..just an OK movie for me as well, I like How To Train Your Dragon more.

The only thing I really liked about this movie are the fighting scenes with Hit Girl

Seen it, twice.

I loved it, definitely not a kid's movie, the fight scenes were bad ass especially Hit-Girl.

Plan on seeing it again and buying the dvd to add to my must have collection.

I know it's not for everyone, but I want to see the sequel and hope it's as good as this one.

I went to see this film after reading this thread...usually FM folk are right when it comes to movies.

But honestly this wasnt anywhere near as good as some of you seem to say...whats so special about it ?

So it seems interesting from the start, a guy without super powers wanting to be a super hero...not very original that, there are plenty of super heroes without powers (watchmen, punisher).
The main character himself is a stereo type (as much as they try to imply he isnt), he is the typical nerd who cant get chicks and loves comics/computers and doesnt have both his parents...not to mention he looks like a cross between frodo and Toby Mcguire.

Okay so i watch a bit more and think maybe this will be one where they will show what would happen in real life if it were tried, okay so fine seemed good for the first 2 fights im thinking "hey this is a pretty good take on this non superhero stuff". Though proclaiming to be normal they immediately give him "abilities" (metal plates, lack of feeling pain, ability to not have scars :P)

Then things start to go downhill, okay so theres this little kid right (Hit Girl)...while i loved the fact she swore like a sailor and had purple hair...but she was inexplicably strong and fast and skilled in martial arts that would make Jet Li jealous, so this was supposed to be a movie about people WITHOUT powers ? She pretty much fights like a typical superhero (Daredevil, Wolverine, Electra, Punisher, Blade, Nick fury, Black widow..etc etc). Actually Kick-Ass himself was pretty much a geek version of Daredevil without the blindness.
Red mist was a pretty cool character and a good performance by Mclovin but it was short lived.

As for the ending...pointless, the jetpack with gattling guns thing was just ludicrous (again what happened to the realistic take?), the girl getting beat up was not an issue with me she took like 4 hits and bled a little from the nose...why people are getting worked up i dont know (esp when you consider Kick Ass is severely beaten several times and he is also a kid).
The ending was super cheesy, "nerd guys get girls" thats been done 1 million times before.

So anyway, thinking it couldnt possibly be so cliche, i decide to read the original comic to see, its pretty similar upto the point they meet Red Mist, its very different thereafter and also far more original in the comic.
I feel if the movie stayed similar towards the end like the comic it would have accomplished its goal of being different, but i guess they just had to give it a "hollywood ending" and as a result its a typical Hollywood superhero movie.

I watched it yesterday and tbh i´d give it a 6 out of 10.
It was o.k, but just nothing special imo, nothing i´d watch a second time though.

Those were pretty much my feelings.
Its not bad, its just nothing that i havent seen done before.

Id probably give it a 7/10, +1 for the stylised nature of it. Its nowhere near the best comic book adapted movie though.

Guys who liked this movie, have a read at the comic youll probably like it and its got a pretty funny ending.

You can buy it on itunes, or amazon.

Failing that just read somebody elses copy , if you cant get it through the normal theres not much else you can do.

So... I finally saw it this last weekend with some friends. It's pretty funny that people were upset about an 11 year old girl dropping the C bomb, but not that she goes on to kill 6 people... pretty sick stuff, but a great film and the reactions are very interesting.

Default Just seen Kick Ass - You have to see this!
Wow, what a truly great film. I am not going to spoil it for you, but this really is an original take on the superhero genre. It has a great cast, and a Denise Richards lookalike to boot as well. I went there having no idea what it was about other than it was about a superhero who has no powers.

Has anyone else seen it? What did you think? If you want to go to the cinema and see something original, and not a remake as seems to be the Hollywood thing nowdays; then you should go and see this!

9/10 [thumbup]

Yes!
Saw a clip on the making of the movie - the kid playing the daughter was awesome - a real scene stealer!
It's not supposed to be a 'kids' movie, and from what I've read and seen, it's more adolescent up.

I'll check it out. Anything with a rating of 5+ usually captures my imagination.
