Child support should be monitored. The person receiving the child support should have to account for every cent spent. If the courts see they are wasting the money on manicures and shopping trips, the amount paid should be lowered. Child support isn't alimony. The system isn't fair to either side. It took my mother years to get the "sperm donor" to pay up child support. If it wasn't for the government automatically taking the child support off of his pay check she never would have seen a cent.
Some good friends that I grew up with never saw anything from their dead beat dad. He lived 15 minutes away and hasn't seen his kids in 15 years. He got away with not paying any child support because he was self employed. He would tell the government he made no money so they didn't have anything to charge him. |

My mom never saw a dime until I went to University. Seemed like I got interesting for my dad so he started to pay.
My gf has a son from a total loser, who also doesnt pay a dime, yet is able to afford a brand new 50" widescreen TV and a surround sound setup. How does he do that when he's unemployed. But the law doesnt allow her to walk right into his apartment and take the stuff away until he pays - which would be the only fair decision here. What a stupid world it is sometimes. |

The median salary in the US is about US$40,000. equal share or not its your children and its not about the money.... [rolleyes] But will state again...hopefully the money goes to his kids..and is for their benignity...toys, food, school equipment, etc |

I was refuring to a weekly salary not an annual...That is why I stated that their are about 4 weeks in a month and if He earns roughly 1000 a week and has to fork over 3000 in that month he is left with only 1000 to support himself for the month..including bills, car, food, rent etc it is an expensive world [yes] |

I was commenting on your use of the word average. You are implying that the average annual salary is US$52,000 pa and I was saying it was even less than that at around US$40,000 gross. Someone on that salary would not be paying US$3,000 per month in child support, as their net income would not cover that. Oh OK I am with you ....I just put the 1000 a week as an average maximum...I know people generally only earn about 500 or less but some people earn a little more..but thanks for the pointer[thumbup]...Oh and I was using Australian Dollars not US..Prob shouldn't suggest it that way its just I am from Australia...But Like I said was just using it as an Average Maximum but your right ![]() ![]() |

You forget about taxes; I make 6 figures and and at the end of the month I take home less than 5k (ignoring the two extra paychecks per year). My parents combined salaries when I turned 18 (in 2001) was under $100,000 per year, and they raised two kids off of it while paying a mortgage and buying 5 cars during that timespan. |

Where did I forget taxes? I said US$40,000pa gross would not give them a net income of US$3,000pcm. Knowing that you make 6 figures gives me more confidence that I will have a high paying job in the future. |
