Shame for Vettels problems, Alonso never stood a chance against him before his car broke

I thought this non refueling rule would make races boring as hell, and it did.

Look at Alonso, easily faster than Vettel but couldn't get close as looking after the tyres iss so damn important now.

I don't like the engine rule either [thumbdown]

Easily faster? If he was easily faster, he could have gotten close, passing is another thing, but getting close wouldn't have been problem.

He did get close but backed off, he then smashed the lap record the instant he had clean air. And your point regarding passing is exactly my point!

The reason he never tried a pass was because they are so worried about engine life, the last thing they want to do is run in hot air now... [thumbdown]

Let em use as many engines they so they can go as hard as they want, it's the developement that cost the money.

Also let them refuel again, I don't like this one stop then carry the car home in cotton wool stuff.

Well, we have a consensus here.
We'll never know if Alonso would have been faster than Vettel because we don't know the potential of any of the cars... as they have to save fuel and spare tires.

This is not a race anymore, it's a boring marathon! [cursing]

I remember those Economy Races on the Turbo Era, when the Winner passed the Chequered Flag with the last fumes in his tank and many racers faster than the Winner DNF because of they ran out of fuel! [rofl]

Nowadays the Teams probably can calculate and regulate the fuel consumption more precisely, which just makes the GP even more boring...

In theory i suppose it means the drivers have to pass each other on the track, rather than in the pit lane. Shite race though.

Downloaded the race but couldn't get myself to watch it in one go..i just skipped 30 seconds every second to see if anything happened [yawn]

edit: while i agree the no refueling and tyre saving makes it more boring: don't forget there's never been an interesting race on bahrein

Seriously I'm not sure what F1 is doing by taking the race to tracks with no spectators. [yawn]

The other moronic rule change was to decrease the front tyre width.

They removed even more mechanical front end grip, how could they not realise this would make overtaking even harder once you hit the turbulant air and lose aero grip?

edit, yeah gront was supposed to be spelled front!

Yup, certainly was a lot more boring than most 'races'. Part of that may be down to the track and part down to lack of real testing.
However, last year closed up after the first few races and even had some surprising results for un-rated teams.
IMO, one of the F-ups the FIA has got is the 6 races in a row where the teams can't get back to their bases to re-engineer any problem areas - may have been a lot more sensible to have a couple of races slightly earlier in the season and then a couple of weeks for further tweeking of the cars and engines.
