Default Anyone ever flown with EgyptAir?
As some might know I've hankering to visit Egypt, and the company I've been looking at going with uses this airline. So what are they like?

Does it matter seeing as you haven't flown for 20 years? You have nothing to compare it to.

Egypt air has a habit of being "missile'd" out of the air Mysteriously

My sister is going on her fourth Egypt holiday this year and she says the airlines are all the same. Even though it's 5 hours 30 mins flight it's not classed as long-haul so you get shitty 737's etc that have no legroom whoever you fly with.

The hotel they are staying at this year looks damn cool though! http://www.firstchoice.co.uk/holiday...ua-park-hotel/

Whether a company offers good or bad service is universal regardless of the particular business they are in.

From what I've heard not having much leg room is par for the course with flying anywhere these days.

The hotels I'd be staying at are the Safir Cairo and the Iberotel Cairo and the rest of the holiday is spent on a cruise down the Nile.

It's slightly (very slightly) better on the long haul planes. If you can afford to fly business class or higher then you're set. I hate flying economy but if I'm paying it's all I can afford. The ability to be able to afford a roomy seat on a plane is about the only thing I that I am envious of about rich people.

http://www.airlinequality.com/Forum/egypt.htm

says they use A330-200`s for the route , with resonable legroom in economy , IFE is hit and miss (working and choice)

Well, first of all dont believe any horror stories about their plane safety, anything that has a landing permit within the EU has to meet the same safety standards.

I have used Egypt Air two times so far, and both trips werent a pleasent experience, but nothing to make a fuss about either. Very little leg room, one time my seat sqeeked, which can wear you down on a 4+ hour fight.

The stewardesses werent very beautyful. Other than that everything was average.

Ask to be seated next an emergency exit, they have a little more leg room.

That's assuming you aren't 5 foot tall, they prefer people capable of opening the door.

What I meant was don't let it put you off booking the trip. If this is who the company use then it's who you're going to fly with. If you frequently fly BA Club World, then you are probably going to be dissapointed, but if you haven't flown in years then it is going to be much of a muchness. Buy a bottle of water airside in case the inflight service is turd and with your iPhone for entertainment you are laughing.

If you do go with EgyptAir, see if you can upgrade your seat to Economy Plus. Not all airlines have this option, but it makes a nice difference for the relatively small cost.

I've flied with Egypt air a couple of times and it's always been ok.

Back mid 90s there were only dudes working in the planes, as other airlines have primarily women as airhostesses. Also, no booze due to Islam being their primary religion. But they didn't mind bringing us loads of sodas that we mixed ourselves with taxfree booze bought from the airport

I flew Egypt air once on a 737. It was ok, however far from "plush". Saying that, the landing was bumpy as hell and the left engine sounded like it was long long long overdue for some maintenance, it sounded terrible.
