P.F. Changs.

Who's been there? I'm not sure where all they have restaurants, but if you don't - it's a "chinese" restaurant. It has some pretty good food.

Anyways, when seated, your waiter will mix sauces/pastes to get a good/desired topping(?) for your food. If you like it hot, they will try their best but if you really things hotter than they can get it, ask for the chiefs "napalm sauce."

Don't mind the poor picture; my cell phone camera isn't very good. I promise it doesn't look (or taste) like marinara sauce in person.

My roommate is a waiter there I'll have to ask him to bring some home.

PF Changs is good. It's an upper-mid level chinese restaurant in my book (much better than most chinese restaurants, but not quite as good as an independent restaurant that has a higher grade chef).

I rarely get to eat at PF Changs because my woman doesn't like chinese food. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ies/wacko1.gif

Well that looks like it will blister your balloon knot.

Makes me want to listen to some Johnny Cash... http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...s/biggrin1.gif

Changs isn't bad... There are a few awesome Chinese restaurants in and around Baltimore/DC, etc.

duawLauff 02-24-2010 09:45 AM

Never heard of it. So it's like a higher end Panda Express with table service? Or a Chinese food Olive Garden? http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo.../confused1.gif

@fatfonzie: Do you live in Texas by any chance, I knew a restaurant called Panda Inn over there.

Chinese food in general is a very hit or miss deal, I live in New Orleans and we have some very outstanding Chinese restaurants. We also have some very bad ones as well. P.F. Changs is very middle of the road, great atmosphere, ok food. I go there only when I have to meet some people. There are a lot better ones here. Some of the really great ones have bad atmosphere but the food is incredible. I much prefer the food over the atmosphere.

No I am in California. We have quite a few Panda Expresses around here. I think they originated out of Los Angeles? But they have expanded quite a lot, not sure how far? Anyways they are mostly in Malls and such. You order your food from a buffet style counter. One item, two item, or three items, with steamed rice, fried rice or Chow mein, and then any sides. Pay and then sit down.

The food can be pretty good to pretty poor, but its popular. Nothing compared to a good Chinese restaurant though.

I totally agree, I get my daily balanced meals, because I love veggies cooked oriental style. IIRC, PFChangs down here is a sit down affair with menus and everything.

Here is one of my favorite places to go. http://www.treyyuen.com/awardsandhonors.htm How many oriental chefs can say they cooked in the White House. 0_0

That's kind of what I was referring to with the Olive Garden statement. As well as the Panda one I guess, but I couldn't think of any other chain type restaurants for Chinese food?? When I think of good Chinese food, at least around here where I live, it's always a local restaurant.

Wow, now that is high end! I've never had that kind of Chinese food.

OccabsLam 02-24-2010 11:25 AM

We actually have a couple of 4 diamond restaurants in my area. One simply called Fong's, unfortunately the father passed away several years ago and mother went totally batsh&* crazy and tried to burn down another competitor when she was 79 years old. [shocked][shocked][shocked] It was the only place in LA that I could find true Mandarin Chicken.

bridsanaeds 02-24-2010 11:38 AM

They have them here - Minneapolis. Haven't ever been, but I'm not a big fan of Chinese. The food looks great though.

We have a few of them in Georgia.

Panda Express is a fastfood Chinese food place. You'll find stand alone buildings with a drive-thru.

Like we do with Indian food. Try going to India and asking for a Chicken Tikka Masala and see how far you get.

GOOD THING I DON'T EAT BRITISH CURRIES [thumbup]

I prefer Nepalese curries, and If I must eat a British curry I try to ensure the restaurant is a Bengali one with "traditional" dishes

PF Changs is an insult to the chinese cuisine same with olive gardens and italian.
PF Changs has always been a terrible experience for me but luckily I never paid... Work lunches for new hires and people leaving are always at PF Changs... Same with Rock Bottom... Terrible food and mediocre brews.

I guess it all depends on where you are. There is no good Chinese period in the town I'm in. Going to Changs or Pei Wei in El Paso is the height of Chinese 'cuisine' around here. Strangely the best Chinese in Las Cruces is at a Hawaiian restaurant.

I love P.F. Changs. It's one of the best corporate "chain" restaraunts out there. I'm sure there are better high end independent Chinese Restaraunts out there, but if you're not in San Francisco, NYC, ect... it's a pretty decent meal. about a year ago, I saw Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift and a bunch of thier freinds at my local P.F. Changs. [rofl]

anyways, I think it's pretty good food. they have this Thai inspired cashew scallops (it's really spicy...i forget what it's called) but it's fecking awesome. that's just about the only thing I order there. also, thier lettuce wraps are pretty cool too.

btw, PF Changs is nothing like Panda Express. It's a lot better quality than that. they generally use high quality meats, veggies, ingredients. than Panda or the millions of strip mall Chopstix type places.

the Olive Garden is a decent comparison, but imo, Chang's is way better company/restaraunt than Olive Garden. atmosphere, everything is a lot better. In my experience Olive Garden's are where rednecks go once a year when they want a "nice" night out and TGIF's aren't around. also, like Lazerbaze said, in a lot of places, there just aren't many high end Chinese places. You can find quality independent Italian restaraunts in just about any city.

also, it's a given that PF Changs isn't "real chinese" or authentic Chinese. I've seen travel shows where they have BBQ rats and **** on the streets of Beijing, or stewed poisonous snakes, ect... obviously it's Americanized just like "mexican food" or "Indian" food in the UK and ect...ect..

btw, anyone ever been to a Peruvian restaraunt? I went to one last night. (i'm seeing a girl from Peru) it was fantastic. It's a lot like Japanese food believe it or not. They had Guniea Pigs on the menu. I kid you not[rofl] (they werent called Guniea pigs though)[rofl]
