Default The Lake District places to stay help
Hey all, very quick thread to see if any of you guys know a nice place to stay at the Lake District.

Going with my new girl for a night away and want something cosy, warm, modern with a retro feel B&B/Hotel

Any ideas?

Cheers

The Riverside Hotel in Kendal is quite nice and well situated, but it's quite big (about 50 rooms I'd guess) so not really B&B. Could be a place to start your search though?

either:

http://www.odg.co.uk/home/index.cfm?id=1

or:

http://www.eurobookings.com/great-la...on-Ghyll-Hotel

I'd go for the latter.

Seeing those pics I was expecting soemthing stupidly expensive but those are great rates! Off peak mebbe but still.

Depending on what you want to do there I'd recommend going to Great Langdale for landscape and Ambleside for touristy town shopping lol

Best part of the description "we are unable to welcome children"! [thumbup][thumbup][thumbup]

Oh, wait, how old is the new girlfriend?

Seriously, mate, hope you both have a great time and a safe jourmey!

[edit] One weekend night? "Please note: There is a minimum stay of two nights at weekends and three nights during a bank holiday weekend."

I'd avoid going walking at the moment - conditions are somewhat unpredictable at the moment, so just stick to doing what most people do when they're at Windermere. Eat food, go to Lakeland, and visit Mrs Tiggywinkle

Aye he speaketh the truth. You don't want to be even 1000 feet up when the weather descends, trust me [rofl]

Another idea, get the ferry across Windermere and go to Hill Top, Near Sawry, Beatrix Potter's house. If either of you are into the history side of things
